Primary School Age Limits

Post by TCN » Sat, 26 Jul 2008 5:47 am

Hi everyone,

We are moving from Sydney to Singapore for work within the next 2 months. Family still getting over the shock that its happening.

Our daughter is in grade 2 and not too sure about the move and early starts for school...hahaha

Looking to place her into the local schools on the East Coast to really experience the lifestyle of the locals.

Have several questions:

1. How strict are the schools on ages for entry into the different grades? She turns 8 on 26th Jan but from what I've read on the Govt education website, students need to be at least 8 years old by 1st Jan to enter Grade 3. Not keen on her repeating grade 2.

2. Any good catholic primary schools on the East Coast with bus service pick ups from the condos in the area?

3. Does she need to sit for the public qualification exam if she is going into the local schools? I will be on a P1 employment pass for the new job.

Singapore...here we come!
