Maybe Qantas should outsource the maintenance to Singapore instead of Malaysia?

Malaysia doesn't have a service contract for the 747s with QANTAS, I believe.

The latest, appears to have been the oxygen cylinder that may have caused the problem...some people had difficulty with no oxygen, when the masks dropped down, and a cylinder which was in the cargo area was missing.

Some planes actually WERE serviced in Sg, which led to baggage handler strikes last year(?) in protest.

The unions in Australia will use this as a good excuse to try and push for servicing to be done back in Oz, and one pilot was already complaining about shoddy workmanship from Malaysia.

However, 747's are not done in Malaysia and this particular plane had all it's checks done at Qantas in Oz.

People in glass houses etc.

With regards servicing in Singapore, i think even SQ send planes to Xiamen for checks. Boeing for one has a place there.

Having worked in the construction field in Malaysia for a number of years, I love the people, but I wouldn't want to be in a high rise if there's a fire or earthquake

Well I would not want to be in that situation in any country, but more so in Malaysia after what I have seen goes on.
