optimum Salary in singapore for Telecom Engineer

Post by abhi_pupun » Tue, 22 Jul 2008 5:14 am

I am Telecom Engineer from India.I have been offered 5000 sing per month salary,Is this salary enough for staying in Singapore?
I have my mobile and extra 200 sing per month provided separately as allowance.

Will I have a comfortable living?
I want my parents also to move with me in next 6 months.

Have you done a search of the thread on this board? It's been answer umpteen times over. But, yes, it is possible to live here comfortably on 5K/month. Especially if you live in an HDB estate rather than a condo. You say you will be bringing your parents over. You did not indicate a wife so I assume you are single and not a heavy drinker. Therefore it should not be a problem. You be able to save about 20% of your salary or more depending or your partying and travel habits. If you use public transport (which is excellent here) depending where you are living your allowances could cover both your transport and mobile costs. At least until you find a girl friend. Then it will get a bit more expensive.
