Can anyone advise on medical groups/pediatricians?

Post by vicandpat » Mon, 21 Jul 2008 7:22 am

We will be moving to singapore by fall, best case, and in that case I'd like to have recommendations on pediatric groups and other medical groups for my husband and myself.
In or near Mt.Elizabeth or Gleneagle, I read they are the best hospitals?
Thanks for any good suggestions.

I go to the Camden Medical Centre. They arent located within a hospital facility, though it is near Gleneagle. I haven't had to see a doctor at all for myself. But the paed there sees my children - a 3 year old and twins of 18 months. I forget his name now, but he we have been very happy with him.

Medical care is so different in Singapore when compared to the US. More accesible and the doctors can move easily between hospitals. It is also much cheaper and the doctors dispense medications right from the office. We use a GP at Tanglin Shopping Centre. We haven't used a pediatrician for years. He's very personable, the wait is never too long and parking is not a problem. Camden can be tough when it comes to parking, but we've used a few specialists there.

There is a lovely paediatrician at Mount Elizabeth Hospital - Dr Belinda Murugasu-Koh at Belinda's Clinic for Children, tel: 6734 5833.

We go see Dr Roger Pang at the Camden Medical Center. He's been very good and accessible. Diagnosis and treatments are no non-sense. The few times we've been there, he's been accurate! I have an 8, 5 and 2 year old. He's a General Practitioner and we've been very happy with him. SG medical care is different from the the US as one poster stated. Here, you see a GP who can pretty much take care of everything. Pedia's are considered specialists here. GP routes are the norm then Pedia's - even for kids. Good luck.

think that depends if the child is under a certain age. when we first moved here my son saw a general GP at IMC - and has also seen my GP. the original GP would not see children under 2 unless they could not get in to see the pediatrician. many people would prefer to see a pedi for a child under 1.

When we moved here last year with our 3 month old, we were recommended to a really good paediatrician Dr. Irene Chan (Ikids Paediatric Practice) at Paragon Medical Centre (Opposite Mt. Elizabeth). Tel: 6883 6969. We understand that until 2 years ago, she was the head of the NICU at KK Women's & Children's hospital until she started her private practice.

We have found her to be very good and professional and love the time she gives us for any concerns. She was excellent when our baby had to be admitted into hospital recently. She is also good with the shots/schedule as required by Health Canada. You might want to check out the website www.ikids.com.sg

Dr Wong May Ling at Paragon Medical. I think she is on level 7. She has a subspeciality in cardiology. Nice waiting area, not overly crowded and so the wait time is shorter....very important when one has sick and grumpy kids !!!
