Hi All,
We are relocating to Singapour from Canada. I am curious, that do we always need an agent to lease or rent a
condo or HDB apt ? Can we directly go to the
property owner & lease it, if we know some good rental place .
Thanks

No you dont, but it will be in your best interest *most* of the time especially if you are unfamiliar with the SG
property market.
We tried to go it alone to begin with, but eventually it just became too hard/time consuming. An agent will help protect you from dodgy agents working for the landlord and can give you sound advice it would take you years to learn. My tip when choosing an agent is to brief them that you are looking for a property $1000 less than what you are prepared to pay. So if your range is 3-4K tell them 2-3 because they invariably bump it up...

it is best to get a good legit agent too. some are just there to make a quick buck. do your research well in the
property rental market, etc.

Thanks for your msgs. From where can I get the Legit agent ? Are there particular agents for particular area or the same agent can work for any location.. ? My husband is going to work in NUS, so we are planning to live in west side. Is there any suggestion for the decent area .
thanks in advance

Hi,
There are real estate agents that are authorized by NUS. Ask your husband to find out more from OHR.
