Tax deductability - Home Office

Post by sierra2469alpha » Fri, 18 Jul 2008 12:14 pm

Hi - I've tried to find the equivalent of a tax ruling on the deductability of portions of the following:

1. Electricity
2. Internet
3. Office equipment (eg. NON company provided printer)
4. Home office furniture/storage

Are these deductable at an individual level? Obviously, there would only be a proportion being claimed.

Any pointers/URLs most appreciated!

Thanks, C & P

What do you mean 'individual' level. They would be deductible in some part if you were running your own business (of any formation) but I think if you are an employee there is no deduction... you may notice that Singapore income tax does not have much in the way of deductions.

Thanks SE, as I expected. If I were contracting through a Pte Ltd (which I may try and do at some stage) then I imagine such items would be allowable?

Cheers, P

All these are tax deductable if you are a sole proprietorship, you don't have to be a Pte Ltd, that i know of.
