Administration/PA Work?

Post by Boulevard » Tue, 15 Jul 2008 5:03 pm

Hi Guys,
I am moving to Singapore Shortly from the UK with my husband. I have been looking around for jobs but don't seem to getting anywhere.
I have been an Administrator/PA to director for 3 years however I do not have a degree.

Is this type of work available? I don't know where to look/what i should be looking for.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

There are tons of this type of work here in Singapore. The salary is not great - especially without a degree - as you would be competing against locals for such positions. It is probably best to look for a job once you are here, as I imagine that no one would even consider you from a distance (e.g., they'd want to meet you in person). You may also give yourself a little time to acquaint yourself with Singapore culture and Singlish - - as a PA you would deal with these issues in abundance.

So true. Especially the requirement of learning Singalish. Otherwise, how would you know how to butcher a business letter until it's almost unrecognizable as English? Also, your local boss, (If your that lucky  ), would not be able to comprehend a proper costructed English one anyway..... :P

I've written a few postings recently having been through the job hunting process like yourself over the last couple of months.

They are probably hidden deep within other threads but I'll try and find them!
