Did anyone have any luck contacting ThaiClan to get the clothes to her for her trip this month.
I have had no reply to my recent SMS messages to her.

Philippine Embassy

I have a good friend who brought her old stuff to the Philippine Embassy right before they moved house. I guess you all know how tough life can be for some of the several hundred thousand Filipino maids and workers here.

Star Shelter in Singapore accepts a lot of baby donations. They help out mothers in situation of domestic violence. The New Mothers Support Group just did a huge charity drive for them.

A friend sent me this recently - a donation drive for kids' stuff for an orphanage in Cambodia. Worth supporting, I think!

Collecting low-cost items like used books and shipping them around the world is not an efficient way to help anybody, besides wasting time and energy. It basically only helps those who organize this to feel better about themselves (in the best case - some such organisation were known in the past to sell the collected items instead of donating them ...).
Instead, please consider sending money directly to a charity in the country you want to support. That way they can buy the books they need (instead of getting other people's discards), ensure that all students in a class have the same books to learn from (otherwise teaching is meaningless) and even create jobs in the local printing industry.

This is my opinion and I know some people won't like it.

hello, your idea is really great but, if you really want to give it to those who are in need, why not start giving to the poor people you know, who really needs clothes and foods.. That way you will ensure that your clothes will directly go to the needy..

A reminder, it doesn't matter who to give to, what's matters most is that the spirit of giving/charity is within us..
