Arabian Night

Post by yayapapaya » Mon, 07 Jul 2008 1:08 am

Event: Arabian Night
"Discover the charms of Arab Street when night falls"

Take a short stroll in Arab Street and discover its charms as night falls.

Upon reaching Sultan Gate, we will feast in Restoran Tepak Sireh which is housed in a historical monument called Gedung Kuning built more than 150 years ago. It was home to the Bendahara (Prime Minister). Now, downstairs is where the buffet is laid out in the hall, with dining in air-conditioned rooms. More tables are set outdoors amidst plants, water features and garden lights. The rooms upstairs are exquisitely decorated and furbished for functions like weddings and corporate events.

Tepak Sireh offers a fantastic buffet spread of about 10 dishes together with rice and dessert.

"Yes, Sireh. New Malay restaurant... Serves a sumptuous buffet at reasonable prices. ....All the dishes passed muster, with the sotong and beef rendeng being exceptional. The gravy for both was tasty and not overly hot... Service was equally good.. The waiter...was friendly and knowledgeable, answering our inquisitive questions on the restaurant warmly".
