A Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook comes with a three year warranty included in the price and has a shock sensor which enables the read-write heads to detach from the hard disk in the event the machine is dropped.

Drawbacks: The machine is expensive and the company for some reason doesn't seem very active in Singapore. Good solid casing though.

Forget Compaq, taken over by HP and the customer service and technical support is a disaster, not to mention the inferior components used on the machines. :(
