They won't! To acquire a job from them you first need to acquire the certificate yourself and from what I know you would be wasting your time unless you have a degree with regards to the British Council, who are often regarded as snooty.
Your best is to seek out those certificates recognized internationally by the awarding bodies. (in the UK Trinity House is one such example).

I am a Singaporean currently now in Bangkok. I will love to take up a TESOL cert and then apply for a teaching job in China.
Can anyone advise there is any scams going on with oversea TESOL schools?
Can I really work in china using the TESOL cert?

the money's horrible in china as an english teacher...
there're plenty of TESOL forums out there and have country specific links.
you could try the JET program if you're willing to pick up some basic japanese. i understand the money's better...

Dear Tesol2U,
have been reading your posts with a lot of interest. I have two queries which I hope you can answer promptly.
1. Is the British Diploma in TESOL that you picked up offered by LTTC (Lonon Teachers Training College)?
2. Could you tell me where did you do your British Diploma in TESOL in Singapore?
Kindly pm me as soon as possible as i intend to join in the Nov. intake. However, your replies will grant me added security. Thanks in advance.

well toefl and tesol are similar tests...this reply is prob a bit late haha but o well, i went to
International Schools in beijing and shanghai and am from hk with a canadian citizenship so i never had to go thru the hassle.
it helps if u have a passport for english speaking nations but it doesnt mean they will take it right away, if u stutter all the time during the interview they might question it.
but basically TOEFL stands for Test Of English as a Foreign Language...hence TOEFL

I believe there are lots of institutions out there offering TESOL courses and affiliate themself with LTTC or accreditated as per the Cambridge syllabus but only a few are really recognised.
As for CELTA, go for British Council. I believe you have to look beyond on getting the required qualification. You might as well check on the country that you wish to teach at and enquire on the most accepted English Qualification in that particular country alone before deciding just to enroll for the sake of having the cert alone.
And if you;re a native speaker, generayl your application for such post might be given a higher priority in particular countries like Hong Kong.
As for myself, i rather enroll for an MBA course, giving me a wide selection of teaching subjects rather than just english alone.
Just my point of view.

Condos beside MRT with malls are super ex!
You may get the convenience but usually crowded and not a peaceful living environment.
