sorry to hear about your experience with this chiropractic group. I am a concerned Chiropractor from the US that is trying to protect the patient's well being,as well as my profession. I know there are not that many Chiropractors in Singapore, but do you know if this is a common practice in Singapore?

I think there are quite a few in Singapore, however I haven't been able to find one yet. Actually, I think I need someone involved in sports, as I'm an athlete.
Any suggestion for my backache? What should I expect for a reliable chiropractor (apart from being drug-free...)?

Thanx for help

I've been suffering from slip disc problem on my neck for the past few years. My left shoulder is always in pain, so much so that it's now higher than the right shoulder. Been seeking opinions from many doctors, and had a laser procdeure that costs me $9K+ last year. Sadly, the problem came back 2 months later.

Again, I seeked treatment from many different doctors and sinsehs. Most only offered short term relief to my problem.

I stumbled upon Chiropractic 2 weeks back, and decided to give it a try. As Chiropractic 1st had a branch at Bt Timah Plaza which is near my house, I popped by for a cosultation. The doctor who attended to me was Dr Steve Lee. He advised me to have a full x-ray done for my whole spine. Initially I was quite relectant to have that done, as previous x-rays shows nothing of my problem. But an MRI that was done previously clearly shows my slipped disc on C5 and C6.

Dr Steve Lee was very patient and explained to me why another X-ray was neccesary. He even said that if the x-ray shows nothing, he will give me my money back! Had it done the next day.

I went back to him 2 days later, and he diagnose my problem. I never know that my spinal cord was curving so badly, just like an "S" shape!

After the 1st adjustment, I can feel the immediate relief on my left shoulder. All the tightness seems to be gone, and I'm feeling better than ever. I've signed up for 60 treatments, which will cost me $50 per treatment. Have to go back every alternate day for the adjustment.

Now's the 2nd week... I dunno whether is it related, but my gastric problem seems to be better than before. It was mentioned somewhere that Chiropractic can help to "cure" other type of problems like asthma, gastric, etc.

No harm giving it a try. To me I find it better than taking medicine or accupunture. I'd recommend Dr Steve Lee as he's very professional and patient.

In order to avoid mateyboy experience, learn from my experience

1) When they ask you to come 3 x a week for x number of months..Watch Out. You are about to be locked into a "chiropractic spa package" and spend anywhere between 2.000 to 7,000 dollars

2) You are told your condition is serious you have Stage 5 degeneration or something like that. Sounds scary right but wait till they tell u how much they want from your wallet.

3) You should be able to ask for you money back for whatever you have not consumed "No Questions Asked" refund policy. Check your black and white when you sign those long papers and questionnaire they give you.

4) Not sure about what you are told about your condition or how much you should spend, get a second opinion. You are smarter than that. One of my friends was locked into the system for 1 year only to find he has AS or some kind or irreversible spine disease. Now his disease has progressed to a more advance stage.

5) Don't believe everything you read in this forum. Check it out yourself get a real live person or friend referral.

I had my back pain treated by a myotherapist in Melbourne about 6 months ago the pain has not returned since. I've found one in Singapore too.

It does not matter what you hear, I mean if you can't fix somebody in 60 visits, that doctor better go do something else.

If I do my math correctly, that is $3000 bucks!

Ever wondered why these guys always ask you to take the full spine x-rays to include neck chest and lower back regardless of your problems? One of my friend told me they will "convince" you about how bad your spine has degenerated and move for the kill to get to do the huge package sign-up.

Hey I have nothing against packages, but 60 sessions ...?? C'mon

I tried chiropractic for life before but i am v disappointed with my doctor. The first time i went for consultation, it was Dr Steve Lee. I find him quite good so i decided to listen to him and go for Xray.

To my dismay, my next consultation after my Xray was with another chiropractor, hes very pushy and doing all the sales pitch the whole time! I asked him a question if i have scoliosis and he answered NO. He said that i have first level sublaxation and if i do not go for correction i will suffer neck ache back ache everything ache in future. I did tried the correction that he gave. ( I went to my family doctor to verify and he assure me its exaggeration)

Thus, i decided not to go back again but i want to get my X Ray back. Guess what i found? The Xray clinic report! My doctor did not even bother to show me. I would not have read my report if i did not go and claim back my Xray! And the report says that i have very mild scoliosis. It makes me wonder if the chiropractor is really certified?

and i also feel that they are overpriced =/
