Starhub scams

Post by Scandinavia » Fri, 20 Jun 2008 11:14 am

If you subscribe to the Starhub sports chanel and that is the channel that they offer to watch soccer games and you know the European championships is on in june and buy this chanel.

Then when the championship is finally about to start you find you will have to pay for another temporary package to get to se the soccer action while the original sports channel sends replays of old premier league matches.

So you pay up another fee....

Then the other night I go up in the middle of the night to watch Sweden - Russia an Starhub has 3 channels on.

Do you think they showed my game? No.... Any messages to the customers about the Swedish - Russian games? No... Nothing... Just left me there upset beyond belief to in a hurry try and find the game on internet.

So paying up for two packages would not do you any good and my perception of Starhub as my TV provider is low... very low....

I was wide awake, as awake as you could possibly be when a situation like this occurs and the game was not on channel 30, 118 or 119.

The game that was showing live that night was Spain - Greece at 2:45 AM in the morning.

Where you up then? No I didn´t think so...

I checked all three channels not once, not twice but 50 times. I even checked all channels available (300?) before turning to internet.

All three channels where showing the same game.

Then I had channel 30 running during the whole game hoping that they would switch over even for a second to my game.

Also I did watch the game afterwards on Starhub channel 30 but I was expecting to see it LIVE.

I know this makes no difference if you are not interrested in the game but to me that is worlds appart.

:(

And yes I got frequent text messages on the phone from people who said it was not a stellar performance by the Swedish squad.

Option is buy a projector to put a 90" picture on your living room wall, then watch the Mosaic..... you can see every channel on the Mosaic.

Alternatively, head to a 24hrs McD's for a coffee, heck at 4am you'll need one.

as Spain-Greece was not important for me, but my flatmate is Russian (ok, really georgian, but he supports Russia) and he watched the match at home.

I have the sports package and the Euro package. Don't know about which channel, but he watched at home for sure.

My personal experience with Starhub has been always very nice. The couple of times I had to complain about something, they were really helpful.

Ok, only not nice to pay this extra for Euro2008 when you have registered for sports package, but is a bit more than 1 SGD per match...

The sports channel does not show Euro2008 group matches.

You had to buy the Europackage for that according to Starhub.

The Europackage is on channel 30, 118, 119 so there is three channels there showing the same game all the time. But now I found a note on the homepage stating that 4 simulcast games should be transmitted on channel 22.

I surfed all channels though and came up with a blank so I have to have surfed by it then 4-5 times?

So why on earth would they open a new channel different to the 3 ones that is on all the time for Euro2008? Why not use one of their 3 Euro2008 channels? They had to use all 3 for the Spain - Greece game?

Why not transmit some kind of message that the Swedish game would be on another channel that is only used for this special occasion if that now was the case?

They sure fooled me! I have to give them that then!

Hi,

Starhub has phoned me today and admits they have failed to inform that channel 22 is used for this particular case.

In fact if you only buy the euro2008 package you will not even be able to view channel 22.

They told me that they will make a lessons learned from this and from now on inform all buyers of the Europackage about these facts.

I also got a refund of 40% of the package fee to compensate for their information misstakes.

So...

I´m not happy I missed the match but I´m a lot happier with Starhub.

This was indeed professional helpdesk behavior.

/S
