Hi all,
We are hoping to open a project office in Singapore and wanted to learn more about the exact tax rate on various benefits that come with the job for a U.S. professional -- these include: company paid housing, education allowance for children, $20k addition to the salary, etc.
The information from various tax sites shows that employer-provided fringe benefits are taxed in the employee's hands. As a number of benefits are taxed on a concessionary basis (e.g. housing) in Singapore, it is possible to reduce an individual's tax liability through appropriate structuring of his/her remuneration package.
What is this concessionary rate? And what structure of the remuneration package would be most beneficial for the employee (and the firm)?
Many thanks for all your advice,
