:D
Ren2008 wrote:We've been using Hipp since before moving here last year from Europe, and it was a great to find it available here...it took a while to find but now I have a list of shops:

the cheapest is Love of the Earth, 3rd floor Holland Shopping (a tiny shop in the corner) -currently out of stock until mid July-I was there on Friday...they deliver if you bulk buy!

I first found it at the German Market Place on Buhkit Timah road near Coronation Plaza...no worry if you don't speak German, the ladies there will help you -oh and be careful with the measuring quantities when making the feed...it differs from the British Hipp, it's called "Bio" in German -basically Organic. They also have all the cereals, teas and Hipp drinks- it is a German brand after all!

If you are desperate and need the milk at a higher price then go to Super Nature on Orchard Boulevard- they have loads of stuff, great for organic veg but pricey!

My last resort is Brown Rice in Tanglin, they always have stock but that's because they charge SGN8 more than the 1st place I mentioned!!! Take the membership card, you get a 10% discount and trust me, it works out for you in the end.

Hope this helped and I wish someone could have given me this legwork when I moved here but c'est la vie....!!!

Hi - found this thread. sorry to be adding my own question. does the bellamy brand contain ARA and DHA?

I am looking for an organic formula that doesnt contain these lipids. I will be in singapore in december and prefer not to have to bring cans of formula on my flight over.

Thanks in advance for your help!

HIPP

Post by Maria K » Mon, 20 Oct 2008 3:56 am

We are coming to Singapore from Europe very soon and relieved to read that Hipp is also available in Singapore - thank you very much Ren2008 for the useful info on sources!!

I think most mothers would also agree that "breast is best" as mentioned by Durain and Taxico. Unfortunately not all women are physically able to produce enough breast milk to satisfy their baby´s hunger no matter how hard they try. Fortunately, I was not one of these. However, after breastfeeding my two boys for 9 months, both my family doctor and midwife advised that even breastmilk was not enough for their fast developing bodies and recommended moving on to formular milk for older babies / toddlers.

True, our little kiddies may not eat organic all their lives, but as loving parents, we naturally want to give our kids the best we can. After all their little bodies are still more vulnerable to illnesses, allergies as well as physical onslaught than that of a fully developed adult.

yes, they are available, but not the whole hipp range of products. the baby food range is very limited, and quite costly (125g jar for S$3.65, 190g for S$5.15). but then at 9 months, your boys will probably be eating normal food soon!

good luck on the move. have your fill of good german beer while you're there. a bottle of weissbier here costs almost S$6! ;-)

Try out the following stores. I've seen them at:

1. Four Seasons Organic Market
B2-07 Great World City

2. Eat Organic
619H Bukit Timah Road

3. Four Seasons Carrefour outlet
Suntec City

I just wanted to add a quick thanks for the info on this thread as my son is still drinking HIPP Organic stage 2 at 2.5yrs old and we are moving to Singapore in 3 weeks (He has trouble with cows milk, and our attempts to wean him onto goats milk have not gone well)

I have also seen Hipp Organic at Carrefour in Suntec in the Organic section, ground floor near the fruit and Veg section.

I hate 'breast feeding' nazis. The original responses to the OP's question is not what they asked for. It's every mother's choice how they feed their babies and as someone else mentioned, not every mother is physically able to breastfeed.

You obviously were able to provide an abundance of milk to your baby and have no idea of the the emotional turmoil a woman goes through when she is unable to breastfeed. It can bring on the the worst post natal depression.

This thread is quite old now so the OP and first responders to this are probably long gone now, on their crusade to emotionally bash parents around the world for giving their child formula - except Durian who I see on here all the time.

No it's not, same as a regular can. Bellamys is also the same size/price. I went with Nestle Nan Pro and I have a heathy happy baby boy.

It's funny though, I know loads of friends who used organic milk but as soon as they went on to solids, they didn't use Organic fruit, veg or meat. I do give organic snacks though as they are generally healthier and don't contain too much salt or sugar.

Hear, hear regarding breast feeding "nazis", Snowqueen! It's not the kind of bashing you need when you are struggling to come up with the "goods". All women's circumstances are different. You don't necessarily stop breastfeeding just because you can't be bothered...

In our household we've always used Bellamy's organic formula, incidentally.

I agree with Snowqueen too, the OP wasn't asking for opinions on bf or ff, how one choses to feed ones own baby is not the business of anyone else, and you are very true - this sillyness of others to put down a sister for her choices does result (in some cases) in depression.

Answer the OP if you can, and if not, don't bother trying to berate a mother for her choices - (Stepping down from my soap box now!)
