PR questions

Post by sin2008 » Wed, 11 Jun 2008 9:47 pm

Greetings!

I have a few questions regarding singapore PR. I looked through the official government website but could not find an answer. So would someone please help? Thanks!

1. Tax
Would SIN impose tax on foreign income if you are a PR or citizen?
2. International School for kids
Once you are a PR (citizen), can your kids still go to International Schools?
3. Is there a difference in terms of fees when you apply through different channels? e.g. PTS vs. LPR
4. Can parents of PR stay in singapore for an extended amount of time, e.g. 1 year or longer?
5. Minimum time required for a PR to qualify for citizen?

Thanks again!

1. No
2. Yes
3. Yes, but not big enough to worry about. (And what's "PTS"?)
4. Yes, you can apply for a dependant's pass/LTSVP for them.
5. No official minimum time published. Rumors say PR can be granted almost immediately in some cases, but most advise waiting for at least a year.

Hi,

Currently sorting out the PR application form myself for the wife and I. Can anybody advise what is exactly meant by 'Employment Pass No. / Work Permit No.'?

I've already supplied my FIN but is this the same Number? Just wanted to check that I don't put the wrong thing down! :) Quite happy to put my FIN and the date of issue and expiry if this is correct.

Also, for Part F it says 'Have you or has any one of the persons included in Part E ever entered Singapore using ther Passports and different particulars?'

I wasn't really sure what this meant but does it include if you have renewed your passport since arriving in Singapore? I assume it's for people who may have changed name or for children who may have been included on their parents passport originally (not sure if this still happens).

Final thing is the requirement for 3 years tax assessment documentation. I've only been in Singapore for 2 assessments so do they just want those or something from my home country, e.g P65?

Cheers
Tartan
