Timing of physical for new EP & dependent

Post by Bigeasy » Tue, 10 Jun 2008 7:12 am

Can someone explain the process (in timing) when getting the EP and Dependent pass. We are transferring at the end of the month. We have received our “In Principle approval for Employment”

Few days

If you have this letter, means basically that you will get the EP if everything is ok.

I arrive Singapore one Tuesday, went same day for blood analysis and next day for X-Ray, and on Friday morning I already collected my pass.

About the entry, yes, you would enter as a tourist. Showing your In principle letter will make things easier to explain why are you entering with an one-way ticket (if this is the case) but I forgot to print mine, explained the situation to inmigration and no problem. Just they told me 464 times how big offence is to stay in Singapore longer than allowed :D

But dont worry, 3/4 days and everything will be ok.

Welcome to Singapore!

Agree with what Asdracles has said and Raffles Hospital at Bugis has confirmed this with me as well, 3/4 working days to get results back.

You don't have to make an appointment there, just turn up and process takes about 40 mins.

I'll be arriving on Friday to take my medical!

your timeline should be...

> fill in immigration form on the plane.
> enter singapore on social visit visa.
> chill out with some tiger beers.
> go to a local clinic and tell them you need a medical checkup for visa purpose.
> make an appointment.
> blood test will be at the clinic but x-ray will be at some other bigger clinic.
> wait for results.

you usually only have to pay the clinic once. they will give you some forms to take for your x-ray at the other x-ray clinic. you dont have to pay again.

They've quoted me S$40 but that sound a bit on the cheap side?

Perfect... thanks all! Didn't know if it would be a quick process or if we were going to have to wait a week or so. I wanna get right on top of finding a condo and get out of the Service Apartment but didn't want to do much till the paperwork and approval is complete.

I'm printing our “In Principle approval for Employment”

You'll probably find you need it more for the airline when you check in then when you arrive in Singapore. When I was living in Batam I would regularly fly between Singapore and Australia and was never once asked by Singapore immigration about coming in on a one-way ticket, but was repeatedly questioned by the airlines because I didn't have a visa stay in Singapore.
