Study in Singapore or China?

Post by kktang » Sun, 08 Jun 2008 3:48 pm

I am looking for a broading school for kids where they can learn both Mandarin and English. Are there any good broading schools in singapore accept foreign students? pls advice.

My second choice would be studying in China, I found a list of ib schools,
http://www.chinaeducenter.com/en/schoolib.php , some of the ib programs seems to be ok, but i am not too sure.

any advice is welcomed, thanks!!!

how old're your kids? i don't think there're many options of boarding schools for young (under 12) children in singapore.

if you boot your kid to china, they may not have enough opportunity to practise english. but they'll end up with pretty good chinese-mandarin!

this is not to say they won't learn later how to speak english properly later, and perhaps forget most of the mandarin too.

you will get a decent mix of both languages in singapore. not the best, but probably a better choice.

i'd also worry about the standard of student concern, food quality and health care in china.

or maybe i'm just behind the times...

send your kids to local school ,they will learn English here and ask a home tutor who come from mainland China teach them mandarin.

I won't consider sending my kids to China.

The air quality, the water quality and the food quality in major cities are my worries.

Jim Rogers took up PR here just for his girl's chinese education. He must have weight his options.
