Banking for a short term expat

Post by regal » Sat, 07 Jun 2008 4:35 am

Hello all. Great site with a lot of useful information.

I plan to be in Spore on a 6-12 month expat assignment without family. My compensation will remain USD and I am interested to know if anyone has had experience direct depositing funds into a both a US and Spore bank account with each pay period.

The majority of the money will be deposited into the US account for home expenses, but I will also need access to "my allowance" in Singapore to cover my cash requirements. Expat assignment will cover all living expenses while in Singapore, but as they say...cash is king.

I'm thinking a credit/debit card would work best. My US bank is local and does not have any international affiliations.

Thanks

just open a local bank account and transfer the money from your US bank to it. you will get an ATM card for withdrawing cash. job done.
