which school is your kid on ?

Post by admin0 » Sat, 07 Jun 2008 1:33 am

Hi,

I arrived in Singapore a week back and my 4 year old son is arriving on June 20th with his mother. He was on a montessori based school since one year.

I am not going to ask which is the best school in singapore, as that would be rather subjective, so instead, I would ask you to just give me the names of the school that you have your kids on (4-10 years old), so that I can research more on that school, contact and visit them myself and judge if it will be one I will be looking for. I signed up a 2 year lease for an apartment in the east coast area for 2 years, so it would be great if the schools are in this area.

So please just post the name of the school , and if you are happy with it, or give a grading of some kind like ABCDE , and if you have any recommendations, please state it too.

I think this will, apart from me, help others too.

Thanks

While you're waiting for responses, check through the many forums that have already been posted by using the "Search" functions above.

We sent our duaghter to a local school, but it no longer exists.

So far, I have not been able to find any names of local schools near the east coast area. Still waiting for replies to this post.

I found an apartment on sims avenue east, near the kembangang MRT. If anyone knows some local schools around this area, please let me know.

There is a box at upper right.
Try enter the following in the box and click on the "Search" button next to it:

schools east coast
montessori east coast

Both will bring up multiple links for you to study.

As for grading schools, this would be very subjective and useless without any fixed criteria.
People with grudges and biases can and will give unreasonably low grades to otherwise good schools.
You may find examples of this in the links brought up by the above searches.

We had a great experience with Learning Vision@Work at NUS. A great environment for our 5 year old. She had a VERY smooth transition into a local primary school in January 2008. Check out http://www.learningvision.com/ to find the closest "school" to you. Good luck!

Thanks.

Having getting feedback from a lot of people locally and I was told to check eton house, overseas family school and kinderland. I am especially in for a school that has a lot of activities and is not just for 3 hours.

learningvision looks good. I will give them a call on Monday and see how it goes.

It really depends on which branch of Learning Vision is that. I am staying close to NUS and wanted to place my kiddo there ..but they mentioned that its for NUS staff.

Then now I am moving to Jurong West and wanted to place my child there but the NTU branch also for staff. So had to settle for Modern Montessori instead
Always have a smile on that face!
