Does anyone know how much cash I can bring without any special declaration, tax or tariff? I know we each can carry $10,000 US when coming into the US.

We each planned on carrying about $8000 US if that isn't a problem?

I have not seen any shop here that would accept USD! there are lots of money changers here who can happily charge you to convert to sing dollars!

Wrong again. MRT station is at T1.

US$ are not excpet at most malls.

Why are you giving this guy the advsie you are giving? I sound like you landed in Singapore 2 hours ago.

I can see why you wish to remain secret. I can not figure out why you wnat to know all the details of this guy. Like, flight #, luggaeg description, phisycal description, ect...

Almost everything you have told this guy will gaurantee his arrival and experince here to be horrid.
i had been busy and away for a while. but i shall now reply to this post.

i apologize for mixing up where the MRT station is located at. my intention was not to confuse anyone. i've only taken it once before, and i've not used it in a long time so i made a boo-boo.

however, i did not know SQ flights land anywhere else except T3. i was told by the krislounge staff that all SQ flights would taxi into T3 by middle of this year. i suppose she was wrong, and i am wrong too then. i apologize.

i am not remaining in secret - when i asked what he looks like and what luggage he carries, etc, i was JOKING. and i actually said i was joking in a previous post too! and i think most people can tell i was kidding...!

i cannot possibly meet this guy, even if i wanted to help him, because like what this other guy said, i am NOT IN SINGAPORE. okay, i'm not in australia either, but that still puts me outside of singapore.

i don't think the original poster will be cheated and robbed in singapore. i'm not out to cheat and rob anyone either... but it's pretty hard to be taken for a ride from the airport because that's not where most conman hang out. wait, i take that back. i don't know where conmen hang out.

essentially, my advice was given in hopes that he will NOT feel horrid and lost when he lands.

lastly, i have used US$ in many places in singapore. i have used them in many shopping centers in the city shopping strip (from tanglin to suntec).

i have used them in airport terminals including the budget terminal. i bought 2 cell phone covers at this Toons shop with a $10 US bill. i didn't ask for change back.

i have paid cab drivers with them and i have used them at restaurants a few times, and once at the "heng heng" CHAO TOW KWAY (carrot cake) store at newton circus.

as long as you're not paying everything with US$100 bills i think it's safe to say that yes, some places accept us dollars. NOT ALL, but some do. always be prepared to take a hit on the exchange rate too.

that's all i have to say about that. : ) and no, there's no reason why i "wish to remain a secret" - i've just been busy for about 2 weeks but now i'm back and the message board torture resumes...

at least that's what i think you mean.

I was told that NZ was Australia's 8th state. Sorry.
