I was wondering since you had your nose done with Dr. Hsu. Do you have his email address? How much did it cost you? I also have a flat-ish nose and I'm considering rib grafting but I'm not sure. I heard your nose will be stiffer or hard, is it true?

Thanks! :)
Please refer to the first post of this thread for his website and you should be able to get his email off that. Email him for a quote and check the rest of the thread for some other quotes given. I prefer not to divulge.

I think all augmented nose will be stiffer and harder than one which hasn't been, but some are harder than the rest. I haven't actually felt silicon, goretex or ear cartilage augmented ones so I can't give you an accurate comparison, but according to what I have read, goretex and ear cartilage are probably the less "stiff" materials. Silicone... depends on the type chosen; some are harder, some are softer. Rib grafts are pretty hard but are therefore ideal if you need to bring your tip down. They can be use to build sound internal structures for major reconstruction which other materials can't. Silicone are hard enough for major reconstruction but there is a risk of extrusion.

If you look at your eyelids, I think you might be able to tell. Do you have a 1 cm incision on each of your eyelids (therefore mini incision)? Or 3 tiny cuts instead (that is the 3 point incision)? Or a full incision all the way across both eyelids (full incision it is then)?

By the way, how are your scars? Satisfactory?
hi

Dr chuang told me he cut 1cm for my lid.. when i close my eyes, the line is only half way...

In regards to my scar, my epic still has abit but it doesnt bother me much abt it. its getting lighter and lghter

I do like my eyes now.. but im scared the crease will decrease more. its been 7mths.. Coss fingers!

actually i wanna remove my eye lid fats to hv a deep socket eyes but dr chuang doeesnt alloe me, he said will look fierce thus he inject fats into my eyebrow to enhance it abit...

Heard that fats transfer dissolve easily? is it true? Anyone knows?

Mine is silicone, it actually feels a bit of hardness but i like it as it gives me a define shape and i heard that goretex looks more natural as it will subsequently blend in with ur flesh, Thus in future if u wanna remove it, might be more complex.

My friend had Goretex, definetly feels softer than mine

Your eyes look great ^_^ I am not too happy with mine... I wish I did the the full incision. Now I have three little dents happily dwelling on my eyelids... My epicanthoplasty scars for my right is not visible at all but is still slightly raised for the left (I think it will go away eventually)

I think Dr Chuang gave you good advice; deep sockets can be very ageing. Older people usually start to lose fats around their face and have to do fat transfers to regain the youthful look.

Fat transfer results differ from person to person. Some will retain about 80% but some will experience complete resorption.

For those of u doing your nose or eyes or face, u cant touch those wounds with water so u wont be able to wash yr face with water. To prepare for your trip buy cleansing wipes to clean your face.

Also u will have to do cold compress & hot compress. For cold compress u can juz get ice which is readily available at 7-11 or 24 hour marts which can practically be found in every corner in TW.

As for hot compress, u dont want to be boiling water all the time in the hotel room & the towel gets cold very fast. I wld suggest u buy those little packs with magnet in it so is more convenient. Buy 2 so u can alternate.

Hope this helps!

Hi...

For cold compress, i would suggest Ziplock... Place water (1/3 full) in the zipLock.. Prepare a few and store in the fridge..

As Ziplock with ice water in it is not as hard as ice.. Much safer (wont accidently move ur implant and the water will just take shape of the part u wanna cold compress..

Hpe it helps.. :)

Feline suggestion sounds interesting too.

Feline, Why alchol?

Hmmm, bring tip down? Pretty sure that's not what you really meant right. Actually with most decent rhinoplasties, there's usually a cartilage grat used for the tip to prevent extrusion.. I can't read any korean but from the diagrams in the korean websites i've seen, it seems to be standard fare. As in silicon implant + cartilage grafts for tip work.

BTW, did your nose resorp and bridge become smaller?

Thank you all for your kind advise, esp gingerbabe, Feline and Vicky. Its truly heartwarming to see that, as I understand that most people left the forum after their surgery has been done. It really helps people like me alot who are taking the plunge soon and your presence and support really means alot! Thank you GALS! :)

Btw, not too sure if those of you who have done rinoplasty using rib are aware of this - my family doctor shared with me that the rib cartilage will actually grow back and I was quite taken aback to hear that. I was quite worried initially about the impact it will have on the rib so am quite relieved to hear of this. Have anyone of you heard of this before?

Eh, not doubting your family doctor's bachelors of medicine, but he's talking through his ass. It doesn't grow back, i'm 100% sure about that

thanks vicky for clarifying & your after pics. WOW! you look really great! cant imagine how much more better you will look now!!! phew, eyeliner certainly makes alot of sense for creating that illusion I saw in the pic! :D

what kind of eyelid surgery did dr chuang give you - i read here & understand that there are different methods like the 3 point incision, full-incision????

TIA!

Yeah, I do mean bringing the tip down, as in for people with short nose who wants to bring the tip down so the nostrils aren't so visible and to change the angle it sits at.

From what I know, there are two ways to achieve that. One, is layering a layer of material (usually goretex) on top of your original nose structure so the tip is lengthen. The is a pretty basic and simple procedure which can be done if your nose only needs a little work.

Image

You can see it clearly on her.

Another is the more complex procedure of opening up and reworking the entire internal structure of the nose. It has to be held up by a strut which can be made with silastic or rib grafts. The strut will stretch and force the nose to turn downwards and correct the "piggy" look. In this case, it would be advisable to use rib grafts because of the increase pressure on the tip. Extrusion will not be an issue because it is autologous. Some doctors do use silastic struts and to prevent extrusion, use septal or ear cartilage to "trick" the nose into accepting the struts. But it is risky because of the pressure and if done poorly can lead to undesirable results, or even extrusion or infection.

I can't remember which thread, but there was a link to a case of some guy. His nose turn necrotic and one of the possible reasons was over lengthening and his nose couldn't handle the pressure.

And yes, resorption did occur, but he overgrafted with that in mind so now the bridge looks natural. Before it was weird and huge.

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if someone can help me with some basics about Taiwan. Do you happen to know where are the good shopping markets in Taipei and a good spa near or in Neihu?

Thank you

Depends what you want to buy at the markets, but Shilin and Shida Night Markets are pretty good...(actually, Shilin is AWESOME)

Just google them for map etc

Is it true that there is a high possibility of absorption or twisting that if we choose rib grafting for Rhinoplasty? i was reading a book yesterday about plastic surgery and it was mentioned in it.
I am quite worried about it~ Because I was intending to use rib grafting for my Rhinoplasty.
