Rhino

Post by minako84 » Thu, 22 Nov 2012 7:54 pm

Dr.Kao quoted me 85,000NTD with LA for my goretax bridge as i had septum deviation. im thinking of rib because my skin is prone to breakouts and it might increase the chance of my nose getting infected. So i dont want to spend another additional cost just to get a rib revision and going thru emo pain again.

Planning to do in May. Anyone is going that particular month so we can buddy up?

This may seem like a stupid question to some, but how do you pay for your surgery? I am planning to meet Dr Kao next year.

Hi, how's the result, if you don't mind share your experience with us. I'm considering revision rhinoplasty with dr Kao, I had first rhino in korea with reputable surgeon but end up having weird nose. :(

This is my first time posting ANYWHERE! I have read a lot of threads here and on purse forum. I wish I would've read more before I had my primary rhinoplasty in Taiwan back in Oct 2010. It was a disaster and I had revision last November 2011. Anyways, I have a consult with Dr Kao on Oct 16. I plan to have revision with rib. I was wondering if you already had an appt for consult/surgery with Dr Kao and if so, when? I would love to chat with you if you are in TW from Oct 15 to Nov 13. Since this is my first post, I can not PM anyone...

misscookie,check ur PM!

Hi, how's your experience with dr Kao? We re in the same boat, myfirst nose job is disaster. My old nose was better with the new one. I email dr kao, he very kind and responsive. I'm just want to ask to the experience patient that did rhino with dr kao. Thanks

I had my rhinoplasty with Kao in mid June and like you I had similar problems that I had wanted him to correct but using costal cartilage. I am almost 50 days post op but my nose still looks upturned and my tip is still very bulbous just like it was pre-op. My tip doesn't look extended either. I was just wondering if your upturned problem was corrected and noticeable after Kao removed the cast. What about the tip? Is it longer now. Your input is greatly appreciated! Can you share your before and after pics with me? Just the nose and I will do the same. I have a feeling my tip will need to be revised.
Deswelling would take up to a year. 50 days is still too early to tell if swelling has subsides.. it's recommended by many surgeons that to wait a year to do any revision. So i think you should wait further.

Hi I want to ask about dr Kao rhinoplasty result, I did mine in korea and want to revise it. I don't want to use rib for my nose, sounds too extreme. I did hump removal, osteotomy and tip plasty, my surgeon didn't put any implant on my bridge, my bridge wider and lower than my old nose, I'm so upset. I'm considering dr Kao, but I heard from someone that dr kao tend to give big nose because of rib. If I use goretex it will big too?

In the links below is a lady who also wants to do revision at 4 mths. But ALL plastic surgeons that replied are saying its too early and there still swelling. So hopes it put your mind at ease.

Anyone going to Dr Kao in March 2013?
Where do you guys normally stay? Kangning appartment is so expensive..
I dont plan to stay up to 7 days, maybe just 2 days and fly home to take out stitches. anyone who's been there can maybe share a bit on the living expenses to me in terms of food..like how much per serving/meal? transportation from Taoyuan Taipei Airport to Kangning General Hospital? any extra unexpected expenditure?
Greatly appreciated ya.

Dr Hsu seems to be giving more drastic changes than Dr Kao. where do you all stay if you're going to Dr Hsu?

Hi All,
just wanted to update on my PS recovery. I did my nose with Dr. Kao using Goretex and ear cartilage, and did my eyes with Dr. Chuang at Wish Clinic. It's been a year and a half so I'm pretty sure the results have been quite final now. Actually, some times I feel like my right eyes are still deswelling very minorly although I might be imagining it.

I have to say I'm quite pleased with the result. Maybe about 80% happy with my nose and 70% happy with my eyes. I personally would recommend Dr. Kao. I did think he lacked in post-op care instructions as I was left wondering how to properly clean my nose, use the medication he gave me, or things not to do to ruin the nose. I was basically just using common sense and being really careful with my nose. But he is very nice in person. Seemed extremely busy as he wasn't exactly on-time for the appointments. We had the same aesthethic idea about noses, I think, that's why I was comfortable with him. I wanted a subtle natural looking nose, and that's what he gave me. The only negative thing about the outcome is that I think my breathing quality has actually gone down. Maybe by about 10 - 20 %. I'm just hoping my nose is still healing internally because sometime in the morning I still see some wound crust when I blow my nose. I still would do it again since for me it's a small sacrifice in order to have a nice looking nose.

My eye surgery is a different story. I originally wanted to do it with Dr. Kao also (suture method as I already have double eyelid) but he declined saying I don't need it. I was not prepared to hear that from him, lol. (I actually asked if I could/should do chin implant also, and he also declined saying I already have a nice chin :???: ) Good thing I had plan B! So I went to Dr. Chen's clinic as a back-up plan to do my eyes opting for either suture or partial incision method. Guess what? He also declined and said I should leave them alone.
I should clarify that my double eyelid was nice in its prime state. But when I sleep too much, they could literally disappear and it would take a while to go back to double eyelid again. Not to mention they were uneven. But none of them could see this because when I went to see them I had barely slept and my eyes were big and round with the double eyelid, lol.
I knew I had to get it done in Taipei as I was already there. So I went to dr. Chuang as a last ditch effort. Even he was originally reluctant to do it if I'm not mistaken. I just remember I kind of had to convince him to do it. So we went with what I think the three-point incision method. I had asked him to just maintain my double eyelid so that they won't go away occasionally and to even out my eyes. What I got is a deeper set of eyes :-| although they are quite nice and even-looking.
Based on this, I don't recommend dr. Chuang if you're thinking about eye-surgery. Solely because the result that I got is quite different than what I had asked for. The eyes themselves are actually quite nice looking. I can appreciate them. They are just deeper than what I wanted. The good thing is that I had wondered about having a deeper set of eyes. my background is southeast asian so I can get away with it - ish. haha. So I accepted my new eyes. they are definitely better than my original eyes. No complication and what not. They look best when I'm looking dead-on. It's when I look way up and or looking to the sides they can look a bit unnatural. Keep in mind, I am a male.

I stayed at Kangning for a week when I was there, then moved to a cheaper hostel the next week. I recommend staying at Kangning post-surgery since you'll appreciate the convenience of staying right beside the hospital of Dr. Kao. Find a PS buddy if you can as that is what I did to cut down the cost.

I can't remember how much I spent on food daily (it's been a year and a half) but all I remember is that they are reasonably priced. If you're really looking to cut down cost on food you can buy some at 7-11. They're everywhere in Taipei (including one at the entrance of Kangning apt).

I took the Kuo Kuang bus from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei Main Station which is like, I think, Taipei's downtown. It cost 125TWD. You should be able to find them once arrived at the airport quite easily as I did. It's quite convenient too. Just make sure you asked someone and or the driver to remind you when the bus get to Taipei Main Station. From there, you can take the MRT subway system which is pretty easy to figure out to your hotel. Kangning hospital is near the Neihu or Daihu Park station. I can't remember exactly which one.

I did have an extra expenditure: blood work at Kangning Hospital is 2000TWD. I don't believe Dr. Kao told me this. You have to take blood work to proceed with the surgery.

Thanks rhinoguy for your info.
I'm still wondering if Dr Kao or Dr Hsu, cos i kinda want a not-so-subtle change. Then the sad part is i figured out Dr Ryan Hsu's clinic is at the southern part of Taiwan..i mean how to get all the way there?
I have seen all Dr Kao's work, superb and subtle and natural. impressive but i wish for a bit more than that and i dont think dr kao's gonna do it. anyone has experience with Dr Ryan Hsu? Is the result subtle or a wee bit more drastic? let me know about accommodation and how you get to Dr Ryan Hsu's clinic too. ANybody interested to go to Dr ryan hsu's please let me know, we can buddy up.

hey guys..

i have seen both Dr Kao and hsu.

I still recall both Dr offered different advise and both are nice.

I must Dr kao clinic is very convenint because of the apartment.

Its very big though its not the newest.

for me i wanted a drastic change that looks natural that was the key.

We dont want too subtle changes because goin thru the pain and money has to be truly justified for me at least.

Anyway Dr Kao suggestd to donor cartilage.

Whereas Dr hsu likes to use Septal cartilage for tip and ribs for bridge.

The cost was a little of deciding factor unfortunately and it was about 20% different due to the addiotnal ribs cartlage usage.

Anyway 23 months forward

Heres what i realised.

The nose has some curve and not super straight.

Basically the ribs look pretty natural other than the curve to me compared to silicone.

how happy am i? it has improved my image but when ur bridge is not high to start with .. any increased will be improved?

well i wanted to have a nice pointed tips like the like of Andy Lau or smth.

I also want my nose higher a little as it had definitely gone down 20% since.

Thing is Dr hsu mentioned that during that time it is the highest possible as I need time to stretch the skin or it will tear?

Anyway guys Comparing korea and taiwan..

my experience is that Korea has really cool boutque trendy clinics like hotel service.

I dun really see that in taiwan..

Correct me if im wrong?

so now i question why u guys pick taiwan?

I used to live in Belgium until about a month ago. My ex-gf there went to Taiwan for rhinoplasty. She was Belgian, but Vietnamese origin. They screwed up the operation. So she had to go back a second time to have it corrected. Cost me thousands of dollars. So be careful of Taiwan, sometimes it’s cheaper just to have it done locally.

Strangely I seem to have this effect on girlfriends. My last girlfriend before Miss Vietnam (I was in the UK then) wanted a breast enlargement. I thought she was perfect as she was, but she insisted. Cost me bloody thousands (first time round, didn’t learn a lesson, but then if there’s one thing I hate, it’s being taught a lesson). Then next girlfriend was a nose job. And I thought she was perfect as she was. What is wrong with these women????
Who? What? How? Why? Where? When? Merde...
