My sis & I went together. So far so good, my sister has received compliments but no one suspects anything & it's only been 2 months exactly.

Ours are also revision cases too.
Best to get someone to accompany you if you want to use autologous rib.

Previously, i also had reservations on using my own rib, was so tempted to use donated ribs, right till the day of consultation with Dr Kao, but because taiwan only gain approval of using donated ribs in dec 2009, Dr Kao only had 7 to 8 cases of donated ribs in 2010 compared to a few hundred cases of autologous rib, i decided better don't be the guinea pig.

now it's been done, i'm glad i use my own rib,
If u use your own rib, antibiotics can easily heal it if there's infection.

It's not scary, after the GA, u get knocked out, when u wake up, don't feel intense pain, just ache.

Psychologically, also don't feel short of a part of the rib as tissues will grow over the missing gap.

I've started jogging, no visible difference or discomfort.
Hey Angelfern - how does your sister and your nose look these days? Are you happy with the shape? Did it resorb a lot? And how does it feel? Like a natural nose?

I noticed from your previous posts that people didn't seem to have noticed that you and your sister had rhinoplasty - was it because the enhancement was subtle and completely harmonious with your facial features? Or was it because you took a lot of pre-operative precautions with supplements?

Actually I am thinking of doing it with Dr. Kao, and I am wondering if you could tell me what your pre-operative supplement regimen was that you took for a month

Thanks!

I'm so nervous right now, and not sure what to prepare.

For those who are from North America (I'm from Canada), if you can give me some input/tips on traveling to Taipei, I would really appreciate it! :)

I'm particularly confused about money matters... like: the best way of converting my money to TWD from CAD, and using credit card overseas.. I'm calling my bank soon also to find out.

thanks all!

So far I am only aware of 2 clinics, Dr. Chuang from Wish clinic and Dr. Chen from Regent clinic but this forum topic has helped me a lot. I am also considering bone reduction for the chin but I am not sure yet as I haven't found much reviews on the doctors that do them. Can someone please give me a few suggestions on what doctors are best for eyelid surgery and/or bone reduction for the chin? Thank you!

Hi guys - I finally went through all the pages. I am thinking of going to Taipei in Mid-July for nose and eyes. I was born in Taiwan so I can speak Mandarin, but grew up in Canada so my English skills are actually better than my Chinese. But still fluent enough to converse in Mandarin.

I am wondering if anyone is going so I can have a buddy during that time. And if needed I can be someone's translator.

My aesthetic sense is actually very different from a lot Asian people...I actually don't like really large eyes with very visible double eyelids. Unless your face is suited to that kind of look. With Asians, our face tends to be slightly flatter and less 3-dimensional so sometimes the really large, double-eyelid look is kinda scary...or something about it doesn't suit the face.

Mine is actually an inner double eyelid - and I want to keep it that way, but I have a lot of fat and skin which makes me tired looking - so likely I'll probably ask for very little removal of fat and skin and a slightly higher double eyelid which will turn into more of an inner. I find a soft, curved lid line is more energetic than a lot of people with the double eye lid. But that's just me.

As for nose - mine is just kinda undefined around the nose bridge and dorsum, and the tip is slightly droopy...so I am not really sure if I want to use rib or cartilage graft. I also don't want a super high Eurasian nose...I don't want to make new friends in the future and when they look at old photos of me, find out that I look completely different.

But yeah if Blissful and Missuglynose is still around - I would really like some feedback on Dr. Hsu. The last time Blissful updated, she seemed really pissed at Dr. Hsu, and wished for a primary originally done by Korean Doctors. I am wondering if she did that for revision or if she went back to Dr. Hsu. And are korean doctors really actually good at autologous grafts for rhinoplasties? Also Missuglynose - you did yours with Dr. Hsu - using cartilage from your ear - was there resorption? And how are you liking the results now?

From what I know about the techniques in the West - there's a surgeon in New york that uses high-def endoscopic method of doing his rhinoplasty procedures - and it has been said that this method drastically lowers bruising and swelling as well as formation of scar tissue because only the tissue that needs augmentation are disturbed. There are people who went and had their nose bumps shaved (which usually cause tonnes of bruising on the face) and at 5 days post-op they look pristine. No swelling or bruising, and they just went on vacation within a week of doing the rhinoplasty. As well, there are surgeons in Maryland US that harvest your ear cartilage and using different methods (like for instance rolling and shaping it in fascia) prevents the huge amount of resorption that we see with cartilage from the ear.

The Taiwanese doctors are certainly 3-4 times cheaper than these US surgeons and can potentially have more of an idea of what is beautiful for Asians look like...but I am concerned about other things like the aftercare with Nurses seem terrible (that is unheard of in the west), and resorption or lack of resorption, the sometimes outdated methods of performing surgeries (like Dr. Chuang with his epis). I am wondering if anyone has any feed back on this. Or if anyone has looked at US surgeons and has seen those technologies and methods I outlined.

I welcome any feedback. Sorry for the long post

Guys, please help!!!

Has anyone ever done liposuction in Taipei? Or had friends who have had good experiences doing it there?

Can please please recommend me surgeons?

I've chosen to go to either Dr Su or Dr Chen for double eyelids and while Dr Chen's clinic does lipo, I have not read one single feedback or review regarding lipo surgery there so a bit skeptical...

Thanks!

Is anyone planning on going to Taipei (Dr. Chuang) early August and want a buddy? I'm still trying to decide between Korea and Taipei, but I'm leaning more toward Taipei. Does anyone have Dr. Chuang's e-mail address? Thanks!

Maybe some will think my results are nice?

I did a revision eyelid and epicanthoplasty in korea ( total cost 5000 SGD ) , so my eyelid is much much lower and natural now.

boii, i think your eyes really looked OK! its not even bad.... but ok, we all have diff aesthetic views.

looking at worries's & boii's outcries on the forum abt dr chuang & then seeing pictures of their eyes, I really think you guys have such nice eyes, compared to what dr chuang did to my eyes (revision) - im not sure what you would have done if you got my shitty results.

Reading your posts has reminded me & I feel more depressed as my eyes look 100x worst than yours & i am still trying to hang in there (after 2 yrs+).

Getting my revision done in Dr Chuang was the biggest mistake in my life. I had no idea then, that revision work was not easy & not any doctor can fix it right.

Ok, i said my peace. & NO i will not show my eyes to the world as I have face enough criticism from everyone that met me.
Worries wrote:This link may give you a better idea what to expect. I find this site useful and also you may want to check on ptosis here, I'm pretty sure you don't have ptosis.

http://www.drmeronk.com/asian/asian-eye ... eries.html

Most of us have been in that position before, it's really not as bad as we think, thinking that the crease is too high, more often when 6-12 months has passed, it's become natural looking or we wished the crease was higher.

It's 24 hrs a day, everything has a cycle like from an embryo to a baby, you need to wait out the time for the skin to develope and heal.

Hi Astrogirl, i went though the website le, and the sentence was found under
Ptosis correction..i try this, and my upper eyelid still droopy low without any lift effect when i pulled my brow. i have Ptosis...

(Young patient with ptosis

The upper eyelid is drooping low even though the brow has been pulled high by the patient to try to see better.)
Hello, how's your eye now and who did you went for revision?

Double eyelid

Post by jobel1982 » Sun, 10 Jul 2011 12:20 am

Hello guys,

Share alittle story of my eyelid. From young, I really have small single eyelid have surgery done by eye surgeon and not plastic surgeon. As time and age goes by, You tends to know whether are you choosing the right doctors.

Right now, My eyes needed for correction. I have seen worries n boi18 done by dr chuang. Personally think that it really look great on them. No offends but I feel that maybe the swell have not recover totally and need time to heal. I came across that so I know the feeling.

I still will consider dr chuang in mind and need more of his work. Reading his profile, my own judge depend on each individual who we are comfortable with the dr. That why before consultation have to ask all enquires in order going for the surgery. Think twice!

hi Fifipek and Germie,

looks like you and I are planning to be in Taipei around the same time!
I'm planning rhinoplasty with Dr. Kao, and I might do eyelid also. I'm still waiting on my Visa and passport. But if everything goes well, I most likely go in October. i'm a guy, if that matters. We can chat again here around September when the time is nearing. Maybe we can do this together. :)
