How to ice the wound? I thought they just want you to ice the forehead?missuglynose wrote:Day 23: I think the little bumps around my scar are improving now (thank goodness!), though they still itch like mad. I am super annoyed though because now the asymetry between my nostrils seems more prominent than before![]()
My left nostril is smaller, and my right nostril + alar is bigger and lower. ARGH!![]()

Dr. Hsu warned me this could happen, so it's definitely not his fault - it's just that my nose insists on remaining ugly (note the nickname).
I shall patiently wait for the swelling to go down and see how it goes. Probably won't go for revision though cos apparently most doctors find this too minor to work on >.<
@Missfoxxxy: Congrats, you look great, hahahaKeep us updated on your progress will ya?
By the way, icing the wound regularly = swelling goes down faster, especially in the first week. You have such a nice face shape, don't shave them cheekbones!
Oops sorry, haha, I meant ice the forehead/both cheeksmissfoxxxy wrote: How to ice the wound? I thought they just want you to ice the forehead?
anyway, I THINK THEY GLUED MY SPLINT ON SLIGHTLY TILTED TO THE LEFT!!! HOW?!??!?!?!?! oh god I am super freaking out right now, I can't stop staring in the mirror. my nose looks horrendously tilted to the left.
&babe where did you get your sinecch?
My nose hurts like a bitch. is that normal?
Hmm, I think you should see Dr. Kao if the pain doesn't improve. Also, did you contact him regarding the splint? I'm sure he could just adjust it for you?missfoxxxy wrote:does pineapple juice help?
I dunno babe, my nose is like, STABBINGLY painful. sorry for the incredibly bad descriptive, but it feels like mini-woodpeckers have climbed up my left nostril and decided to make a home there.
Anyway, I thought wu gong cao twice a day? Does it have an expiry date? cause I just bought EIGHT bottles -_-
I can't get him cause it's the first day of CNY and everyone is pretty much unavailable ):missuglynose wrote:Hmm, I think you should see Dr. Kao if the pain doesn't improve. How come you managed to get wu gong cao in a bottle?! Lucky girl! I bought the dried herb and had to cooked it myself in a double boiler, so mine was super concentrated. The Chinese herbalist told me that it's a remedy for sprains, bruises, and broken bones...precisely what I needed for my nose, hehehTo answer your question, I'm not sure if it has an expiry date...mine was in dried grass form, lol.
Pineapple juice contains an enzyme called bromelain which is an anti-inflammatory agent and also a diuretic, so it definitely helps with the swelling if you drink enough of itIt has a relatively high vitamin C content it will speed up the healing process as well. The juice also aids digestion and prevents constipation
So yeah, no harm trying?
Personally, I consumed vitamin supplements (B-complex+Zinc and Vitamin C), the Wu Gong Cao, and also pineapple juice, so I don't know how much/little each item separately contributed to the healing process. Overall, this combination definitely worked to reduce bruising to a minimum and expedited recovery. That's just my experience though, I'm sure it differs for everyone.
Babe, the swelling speed differs on the left and right side of ur face, in other words, left and right nostril may look diff. the reason why it looks tilted becox one side could be more swollen than the other. Mine's that way too now, cox my left side is more swollen, before it was the right. no worries. DONT BE PARANOID! RELAX.missfoxxxy wrote:I can't get him cause it's the first day of CNY and everyone is pretty much unavailable ):missuglynose wrote:Hmm, I think you should see Dr. Kao if the pain doesn't improve. I'm waiting for him to get back to me reg my horribly tilted nose -_-
Anyway, wu gong cao DOES come in medicine sized bottles, for further reference here's the number - 0227998059. Call one day in advance so she can boil it for you, then just go pick it up. The place is a medicinal hall in the Neihu district.
&missuglynose, thank you so much for your invaluable advice (: I'm gonna see what I can do about the pineapple juice later. Mwah!
