Desperately wanting double eyelid surgery

Post by summ3rluv » Fri, 01 May 2009 11:52 pm

im desperate to get double eyelid surgery

after much review and checking our dr chuangs website, i have finalised my decision to do it with dr chuang.

ive sent an email to him and am waiting for his reply.

however.. i dont know which procedure to undertake, micro incision or stitching. will the surgeon provide his recommendation?

when lookin at the pics, stitching looks better than micro incision ><

im pretty freaked, but i really wnt to get it done. :???:

I will be in taiwan from 4dec - 9dec. this time should be sufficient right?
and for all those who had their double eyelids done, can you go shopping straight away? or must you rest a day. i dont want to lose out on my holiday haha.

i will be heading to hk for a further 5 days with friends.. so i really want to have my eyes done and not regret!

any answers would be greatly appreciated!![/b]

Right after my double eyelid surgery, I was up and about.
It's a far cry from my first double eyelid surgery in Singapore...I even took a cab home from the hospital and stayed in bed for like one week before venturing out...lol

Hi Mikkobaby,

Congrats, you look like you are recovering well. I'm now in my 21st week and my nose (especially the tip) is still not settling as well as I had hoped. And I hate my alars! It seems that they are somehow enlarged post surgery.

Are you using any post-surgery care? Hope you continue to have a speedy recovery :)

Hi all,

Just to share with a brief update of my recent surgery (during last wk) with Dr Kao.

Day 1
Arrived Taipei in the afternoon ard 1+pm. Headed straight to Kangning Service Apartment. Immediately proceed to Kangning Hospital after I put down my luggage. (I would suggest to those who are having surgery with Dr Kao to do it in Kangning Hospital because it is really very convenient as the hospital is located next to the service apartment. In fact, they are connected through the cafeteria at the first level). I waited patiently for my turn. The nurse called my name and I went into the room. Finally I met Dr Kao. I was really surprised because he looks really young. He told me he is 44 yrs old but he looks ard 30+ to me. He was so friendly and helpful. He looked at my condition and told me what he can do to help me. He asked me whether did I bring any photo to show him what type of nose I wished to achieve but I forgot to bring it with me as I was in a hurry (I would advise for those who are having surgery with Dr Kao to remember to bring photo along). Next, was my eye. He looked at my eye and told me that actually single eyelids are also good for guy. However, if i wanted to do it, he can recommend an eye surgeon to me. He said that I can go for consultation first and decide for myself. The consultation with the eye surgeon was fixed in the evening and it was at a different place. I went back to the apartment to rest for a while. In the evening ard 7pm, I hailed a cab and went for my eye consultation. After the eye consultation, I decided to do it and the surgery was fixed on Day 2 afternoon.

Day 2
In the morning, I went for blood test (needle was poked in the mid arm & 2 small test tube was drawn), x-ray etc. I went for breakfast and Jiu Fen for sightseeing. I came bk in the afternoon ard 3+pm for my eyelids surgery. I was expecting some pain but the four shots were not painful. The nurse told me that they use the smallest needle. The surgery took abt 30 mins. After that, I took a cab and went back to the apartment to rest. I went to Shilin Night Market to shop around and have my dinner (of cos with my cap & sunglass as my eyes were swollen) in the evening. I have to stop eating and drinking 8 hrs prior to the surgery.

Day 3
I reported to the hospital for my surgery. I was lying on the bed and waiting to go into the operating theatre. The nurse was so friendly and they chatted with me to make me feel less nervous. Dr Kao came to talk to me and discuss with me one last time what type of nose before the surgery. I showed him the photo in my hp and he also brought with him a magazine for me to see. The photo in my hp was too small for him to see properly and he told me to look at the magazine and see what type of nose I roughly wanted. I was not wearing my specs so I cant see properly. However I leave it to him. Then I was wheeled into the surgery theatre. While they were preparing, I overheard the nurses chatting abt the photo. It was one of the korean actor. After that, the mask was put over my face and within 10 seconds, I was asleep. I woke up around 9+ at night and my body was so painful. Uglypiglet was correct, using rib for rhino is damn painful. I tried not to move as much as possible and I went back to sleep.

Day 4
I woke up again at 6+ in the morning and slowly moved myself out of the bed to the toilet. My bed was the furthest away from the toilet. I was having so much diffculty getting up as my body was in pain. After going to the toilet, I went bk to the bed and the nurse came to inject some antibotics and gave me some medicine. After that, I went bk to sleep again. I woke up at 10+ again and ate some cereal. After that, I took my medicine. The nurse came to told me that Dr Kao would come to see me ard 12+ pm and it was his day off that day. She was so kind enough that she gave me a packet of fruit juice for me to drink as she said I need more vitamin. Dr Kao came to see me and told me everything went on smoothly and I can be discharged. After that, I slowly prepared myself and went bk to the apartment (which is of cos next block) in pain as my body was aching. I bought a few bentos from the 7-11 located on the first level of the apartment for my meal.

Day 5
Spent whole day in the apartment sleeping, resting and trying not to move too much except to eat and go toilet.

Day 6
My body was getting better as it was getting less painful. I also spent almost the whole day in the apartment except to go downstair to buy my meal.

I am going back for my review with Dr Kao and the eye surgeon tomorrow. I am trying to be more cheerful and think on the positive side as possible so that I get well soon. Ok, that's all for my update. I hope my experience will help for those who are coming for surgery soon as I learnt from Dr Kao that there will be some sporean coming to see him next week. Btw, for those who have surgery performed by Dr Kao, can u tell me where you bought the 'Wu Kong Cao' as mentioned in this forum. Dr Kao never mentioned this to me and when I asked the nurse, she told me she dont know anything abt 'Wu Kong Cao'. I wished to reduce my bruise and swollen nose/eye asap.

Hi Graysnow.

Im AFRAID of neeedles so badly.. would you honestly say thats the last thing to worry about? I mean.. they took 2 bottles of blood? Im iron defficent.. meaning when i lose blood i get really dizzy and feel like to pass out. So did it not hurt at all? If its 2 bottles that must be the needle is inside you for a while eh??? UGHH i wanna throw up already just thinking about it.

How much did you pay ot stay in that apartment? Like how much is it per night??? i think i will feel safe and comfortable this way since im a girl staying on my own. Is it owned by the hospital since its connected?
Was there refrigator in that place u stayed so u can keep your cold compress in it?

I was considering Dr Kao and Dr Hsu for autologous rhinoplasty. Both doctors are ENT specialists and quite famous in Taiwan. After reading this forum and gathering more infomation, I was planning to go for Dr Kao until I saw a negative review about him from the locals. Check this out (it's a Chinese website):
http://www.fashionguide.com.tw/MsgL/07/ ... 6_1_1.html

Right now, I can't decide who to choose. Does anyone have any bad experience or saw negative comments about Dr Kao or Dr Hsu? I would really appreciate if anyone can share to enlighten me. Thanks a million.

Hi Ms Juice

The eye surgeon is not Dr Chen Mu Er as mentioned in the forum. I dont know what is this Dr Chen Mu Er. The eye surgeon (recommended by Dr Kao) who performed the surgery for me is Dr Chen Qiao Hong. He is also quite famous and very professional. He also performed Lasik surgery. I did not ask him to show me any photo because I forgot abt it and he also did not show it to me. But he did show me some diagram and illustration. He explained to me how he was going to perform the surgery and asked me to think abt it. But i was keen to do it, thus the surgery was scheduled on the next day. I went for my review for Dr Kao at the Tri-Service (San Zhong Hospital) the other day. I did check and find that the Dr who performed double eyelid at Tri Service Hosiptal is by the name of Dr Chen Tian Mu. Hence, I don't know who is this Dr Chen Mu Er. The dr and nurse were very friendly and attentive. If you go alone, u can actually rest for a while until you are ok to go bk. However, fyi, I went alone and after the surgery, I went bk immediately to the apartment. Everything is fine except the eyes were a bit swollen. I even went out at night.
