After hearing a few negative results from dr.chuang, i'm trying to look for a different plastic surgeon now
No prob, just contributing my share of experience so others can decide better which doc is suitable.

I did full rhinoplasty including alar and tiplasty. 1st time using silicone I implant with septal cartilage. Results were not good enough, bridge is thick and tip is still round. I like a sharp nose so Dr Chuang changed to a higher L shaped implant and added ear cartilage. The tip got sharper but not really what I wanted. I was ok with it until the implant shifted and it was quite obvious. Scared it might be turn into infection later on, so decide to change to rib cartilage. And Dr Kao website photos looks very good to me.

Dr Chuang is still good but he does not specialise in nose. He is well known for breasts. And his style is conservative, does not suit me. But then, he did my epi and eyes very nicely. I went back to him for calves reduction together with my 2nd nose revision cos I still prefer his friendly and patient personality. But, his business has grown tremendously over the year and now he has even lesser time to speak to you. Consultation or follow ups will be fast and rushed cos he has so many patients waiting for him. And the waiting time is horrible, at least 1hr? It is getting annoying to wait so long and when you finally get to see him, he can only spare you 10-15mins. I was also quite pissed when he says my deviated implant is alright and leave it this way. It sounds like he is maybe too busy to slot in a revision for me so he is shrugging me off not to have surgery now.

What surgery are you doing? Doctors have their own speciality. Have to be sure what you want and which doc can meet ur expectations and if you are comfortable with him. I think there is enough reviews here on other docs to help you with your decision. :)
I am planning to go for double eyelid, epi, and rhinoplasty (with tiplasty, alarplasty and augumentation)
I had originally planned to go to Chuang since I would be able to get all my procedures done at the same time by a good doctor at a good price. But after hearing some of the comments made by various posters, I am trying to find another good surgeon who can provide the same services by Chuang for about the same price..

Quite a toughy =(

But thank you so much for all the info!
No prob :)

I understand wat u mean. I did the same procedures too so settled for Dr Chuang cos of the convenience and price. He is ok for eyes and epi but you may like to consider going to someone that is good in nose as rhinoplasty is a more complex procedure. Price will be higher of cos and more troublesome to run bet 2 docs for the surgery, but it is more worth it to get it right the 1st time than spending more on revisions later on.
But then again it is very individual, there are other satisfied patients of his too. If you like the style of nose he does and dont mind having foreign implant, he is still a good choice considering you wana do multiple procedures.

Good luck!

dimensionspectru,

are we talkin abt the same Dr Kao? lolz...

I duno leh.. but he really spend 2hrs with me and was very detailed in explaining. Even show me a video on one patient's surgery process.. quite gross haha..
I saw the taiwan forum wrote very good reviews of him too and there's one saying she had few hrs consultation with him too.
Maybe ur fren's fren nose is not to bad and only needs simple enhancement that's why there is not much for discussion?

I was quoted nt100k too so I guess it is quite standardised price.

Hmm.. I knew Dr Chuang does rib cartilage too but I did not ask him too for the same reason. But I actually thought it is cheaper since he is not ENT.
Dr Kao says he charges is reasonable and in fact low already for the amount of work he has to do - 7hrs surgery ! He even jokes that he is more "cham" than me after surgery. I heard he receives many revision cases of patients like me so it is usually complicated and tiring to perform such surgeries.

I was quite hesistant with TW docs since none of them seem to give the type of results I prefer. Dr. Kao is the first positive one I've seen. Even better that he is an ENT.

I'm thinking of considering sending Dr. Kao an email but the website gives me a headache! So many chinese words! Does anyone know his contact email?

On a side note, has anyone suffered from "over agressive rhinoplasty" before? I had a high bridge which was shaved down too much when all I wanted to remove was a tiny lump, done by one of the blue eyed boys here - kinda left me with a washed out look from the front. Now I probably need an augmentation instead :(

Foubelle: I think its quite unlikely to make the nose "slimmer" without alarplasty. It will look weirder in my opinion if one had a higher bridge (looks sharper) with flared out nostrils ? Just my 2 cents.
Thks :)

The bridge is not that high, actually lower than the 2nd revision. Dr Kao gave me lower bridge with higher tip. The bridge will go even lower after swelling is gone. I am just concerned if the tip will be still as sharp like now or rounder when absorption happens. Anyone has idea?
Those who did rib cartilage, how did ur nose turn out after few months? Has the shape changed?

Dr Kao email is [email protected]

I can't really advise you since I haven't gone through it. But Toriumi has some views on the nose shape changing.

http://www.deantoriumi.com/faq4.asp -> nose shrinking over time hence he "over corrects"

http://www.deantoriumi.com/faq1.asp -> On rib cartilage

I hope this helps.

one most important thing i find is that he explain with pics why i tell girls to go for kai yantou and eyelid enlargement surgery over just a normal double eyelid surgery..

eyelid shape change means to change the shape of ur eyelid instead of just getting a eyelid.

Dawn yeo the blogger over did her nose and her head is too round for her nose. her eyes is good but her overdid nose and forehead spoilt everything..

as for dawn yeo the actress. i dunnoe how she look like.

nt100k for a revision which takes 7 hours is ok consider the GA fee and hospital stay..

However, i think it is still cheaper if doing the nose with him for 1st time. should be SGD4k for rib?

yes you can however the doc must be skilled and not over correct or under correct also he need to be skilled to ensure both eye is the same shape not 1 open bigger than another

I mean my nose is actually easy to work with cos the bridge higher than an average asian. I asked a discount, wtf how come you guys get quoted 2500 T_T

no fair.
girl usd 2500 is goretex with ear graft. not rib..rib usually cost much more as it is two surgery and need much longer hours.

Hi,

it seem i will not let dr chuang do my nose as dr kao is cheaper. however dr chuang eyelids and epi skill is good. many ppl has good and consistent result from him unlike his nose job.. his eyelid job seem to have min. scarring..

I emailed dr kao also lehz. He like very chin chai like that. Also, I kept on telling him I don't want alarplasty, don't want alarplasty, got other ways to make the nose slimmer without alarplasty not, and he totally never reply my question at all lorhz, just keep on saying we can do alarplasty.
but i admit larhz, compared to dr hsu's pictures, i like his style more lehz. how how huh?
hi, sorry to say this, is it the way you write emails? if u write like me in the forums. sure he chin chai or dun reply ur emails as he may not get what u are writing abt. also, writing need to have certain "manners and presentation" to protray a good image to others.

also why no alarplasty? since u are doing rib implant (i assume) alarplasty is just 2 small additional scars on top of the big scar via open incision..

u can do eyes with dr chuang or dr su or dr artwork 1st than take taxi to dr kao's hospital. good thing is that these docs are all based in taipei and u can do all procedures in one day by 2 docs.

dr chuang boobs job is damn nice. but not cheap however, if need to do boobs and nose jobs. i think cant be done in 1 trip. need to do ribs 1st than boobs later in another trip ..
