That area is called Novena and there are gobs of apartments (condos) around there, old and new, all somewhat pricy these days.
thank you for that it will be very helpful we have an agent looking for us at the moment but what we have found is the apartments they have sent us are 500 more than what it says on the site is that how it works they put there bit on

Yes, it is. You need to tell the agent a little less than you're actually willing to pay, and also remember that in today's housing market you can probably shave 10% or more off the asking price.ann112728 wrote:thank you for that it will be very helpful we have an agent looking for us at the moment but what we have found is the apartments they have sent us are 500 more than what it says on the site is that how it works they put there bit on
Vaguely heretical thoughts on travel technology at Gyrovague
moving to singapore also
ann, we're in the same boat. my family is also moving next month. will be there by june5 and will stay in a hotel first until we find a place. we're arranging meetings with brokers.
brokers are saying the cost of 3BR condo unit is from$4K to $5K in the area of tiong bahru and anywhere else near the central business district.
as you will be there earlier than us, i hope you can post comments on the places you've visited.

hi we will be living on upper thomson road which is only about 15 mins from where my husband works in united square, my husbands office found us an agent, but I also found a couple of agents myself out of The Straits Times I found the more agents looking for you, the better chance of finding something pretty quick and the agents know the score its dog eat dog so to speak the agents dont mind, but keep in mind you dont pay for there service it was one of the agents I had, that told me. You can have as many agents as you want .
We arrived in Singapore on the 30th of May and we move into our apartment on Saturday the 14th June so that is good going ,I know some people who looked at 40 to 50 apartments before thay found the one they liked hope this is helpful to you and good apartment hunting

hi we arrived in Singapore with only four suitcases and of course the golf clubs we have been traveling alot we did 9 months in Thailand and we have just done 7 months in Guam so we always go for F/F apartments which is not always to our liking so we buy new things like bed and sofa and loads of other everyday stuff we are lucky as the company give us a good allowance No is the answer to your question have we got kids coming with us we do have two girls but they are 36 and 34 they will be visting in the near future hopefully if there's anything else i can help you with just let me know and i will try good luck

I recommended getting the Straits Times - look in the classifieds (especially Saturday). Even if you have an agent, these listings will give you a 'floor' for the area/building you are looking at.
We were in the process of settling on a unit before I found one in the same building for S$600/month less. Post-haggling, I'm paying S$800/month less for essentially the same unit (not as good a view) in the same building.
Market is cooler now than when I arrived in Nov. so perhaps you have more leverage/can negotiate more.
