rental terminology

Post by vvbnu001 » Thu, 15 May 2008 7:22 pm

Hi I have got a job in Singapore and was looking for a single room accomodation (only females) for around S$600 in Buona Vista (as it is close to my workingplace). . I have never been to Singapore and will be shifting in July. Now when I look at the websites for Singapore rentals, they use terms like COMMON ROOM & MASTER ROOM. What are Common and Master rooms and how are they different form each other. What are the merits and demerits of each. What kind of accomadation is most suited for a single women in Singapore (complete vegetarian). I would really appreciate information on this.

Which means it's a shared appartment.

With your budget that would be your best bet and probably your only option

I wanted to know how far is Bukit Batok from NUS (in terms of travel time). Is it advisable to live slightly away from work location, will that increase my travel budget, apart from taking more time to reach work place?
How about Seragoon Road and places around there, they seem very far, but seem to be in the centre and rental is lot cheaper.

NUS website has an "Off-campus Accommodation" page with ads for rooms available mostly near and around NUS (e.g. Dover, Clementi, Buona Vista). You might find it useful.

You could also try enquiring directly with your point of contact from NUS to find out other means of searching for suitable accommodation for yourself.
