i think u'll pay about 300-400 for 5-10sessions, depending on the length of session and what u want to achieve.
i had just passed my exam as fitness instructor, but i don't think i am experienced enough to train anyone all by myself yet.

you can go to the big gyms in town or u can find out more at this website too:

i did a BEC (basic exercise course), i can't rmbr exactly how much, think it was about S$300-400. Then, having passed that, then i went for the FIC (fitness instructor course), which was about $800-900 (can't rmbr exact amt).
u can find the various service provider with such accredited courses (i think those r planet fitness, amore, fitness plus) in the singapore sports council website.

You have to be a local right? You only get what you pay for.

You don't think it's fair to charge 300S$ for 10 times of excercise with a coach? That's cheap in my eyes.

you don't have to only hit the gym with a trainer present, y'know.

go a buncha times with the trainer, learn some of what you need, and then either take a break for a lil (before resuming to learn more) or continue when you're ready.

put what the trainer taught you to good use! i'm sure you can poke around gyms in singapore and ask to look through their motley assortment of trainers.

talk a lil with them - it's not always nice to have a trainer that doesn't quite move on the same groove as you do. god knows it's happened to me before.

i had totally no incentive to go to gym with a trainer i can't kid around! POW!

i didn't actually answer your post of giving you a name, dob, location and pec size. good luck!

By far the best course available in Singapore - ask around and you will soon see the others don't even come close if fact some of them are downright dangerous what they teach.
I will agree with you on that! To be good, you have to have passion, to go out of your way, to do it right. califonia fitness for example is geared to make sales, although some of them are good, there are also quite a few, that lack the passion, and actually know jack shit, about the human body...I have seen people doing the old fashioned situps with coaches, that are really not good for your back at all! So you need to search someone with sound knowledge, I'm not allowed to advertise, but for optimim performance, you need an optimum coach, with knowledge and a passion for the job.

Recommendation of a company you have had good or bad dealings with is fine and is not considered advertising if it's in reply to a query posed by our readers. Threads started with a posting of a recommendation and not in answer to any query will be looked at and most probably axed as there is usually no reason for doing so unless it's a disguised attempt at advertising.

HOWEVER

The Recommendation of your own company, is a well known no-no on this forum. As you all know, we allow you to put your business link in your signature as long as no further reference to that business is made by you in the body of the message. This also goes for posting advertising in the Classified Section, you are not allow to refer to it here.

ksl, it's not just one poster who is not allowed to advertise here, it's all posters, you have not been singled out so why type it that way? :-|

OPT, we have been here before.

Please abide by the forum's policies. I will repeat, Moderators will enforce according to the spirit of the rules so creative attempts to circumvent the rules will be summarily stomped on.

Thanks

I live in the United States now

I guess you are used to the censorship in Singapore.

Thing is I just wanted people to know the truth about 95% of the personal training industry in Singapore - they or dangerous and the industry need a major overhaul. The big gym chains are mostly to blame focusing on sales rather than education for the trainer. California would even allow their trainers out to attend an education course because if the trainer is not in the gym they are not making them money.

I doubt any Singaporean would do my course because it costs more - they always go for the cheapest option whether it's any good or not as long as they save money.

So you live in the US. That has absolutely nothing to do with the rules of the forum's owners. Just like your business, they run their real estate portal and associated freebies on that portal in the manner that they would like. Much the same way you run your business, either yourself or with somebody here managing it on your behalf.

This is a privately owned portal, has absolutely nothing to do with censorship at all. Hope you are better at training than knowing the difference between censorship and advertising.

If you "only" wanted to let people know the truth, you are free to do so. Just abide by the forum's advertising policies instead of trying to circumvent them. If you want a sticky at the top of the forum or a banner advertisement, I'm sure Admin will surely give you a decent rate.

Read some of ksl's posts, he's pretty good at it. You could learn something there, albeit he walks a pretty thin line on occasions.

I do have have my own private forum hosted at my expense yet never censor any post ever. I have people post information about product A,B or C but they better be able to stand behind their statements because we discuss openly and in depth.

I even will post something that I have seen that I think maybe worthwhile even when in direct competition with my own business. I believe in informing the public and let them decide what is best. If someone comes on posting about herbalife god help them because we will pull their products apart. - guess that's why we don't have the same problem you have here especially with MLM companies - they don't stand a chance - we don't censor them because we want the public to become aware of their scams - which we both know they are.

We let me say this without mentioning and company or service so I don't offend your boss... The personal training industry is in an utter mess with profits coming before people health and wellbeing. The have unqualified personal training providing services they don't even have a clue about.

There is a saying "You don't know what you don't know till you know it". This could not be more true. People don't even think how breathing pattern can affect the shoulder or how the 1st MPT joint (big toe) can affect the lumbar spine.... the list goes on and on.

What they are doing out there is downright dangerous and someone needs to stand up as say something. People need to be held responsible for this and it should start with the major gym chains.

Is saying this one major gym (no names mentioned) did make their trainers go through my CPT program and some have even gone through Level 1. this is only because the person in charge used to work for me and is a Level 2 student. However at the end of the day they do still put sales first sometimes at the expense of the client.

Men's Health (hope it's ok to mention them) actually interviewed me about this just before I left Singapore. I will be interested how much they actually print as they have to think about their advertisers.

The information that I live in the States now was directed towards ksl and not reference to anything else.
