They vary considerably! I've been in contact with the RFID chip maker, I was quite surprised, that they can adapt the RFID to suit my project requirements, manual handling or drop testing as its called, can vary. Its best to contact the specific chip maker, for a total solution! Many chips will dop in price this year to around 16 cents. You may be able to google, it, I have seen some reports quite a while back.
