should i worry ??

Post by thegame23 » Fri, 02 May 2008 1:33 pm

i was born in singapore in 1985, and since then have lived in india, but i visited singapore in 1994, i came back to india in a few months and my passport expired in 1996..it was not exactly MY passport , it was on my mothers passport, i never had my own passport, my mother was a singapore citizen by birth and my daddy is an indian citizen, my mother passed away a few years back.
is it possible for me to get an indian citizenship or a passport and can i renunce my singapore citizenship ? i have not done my national service

I may be wrong but being the son of an indian father should get you indian citizenship automatically. You can apply for a passport if your father lives in India or visits frequently (basically you need an address) - then again, i can confuse you with things like you might need a ration card and all that but you could talk to a good lawyer or a passport agent. The fact that you have lived in India and your father is from India. That entitles you for citizenship. And i now nothing about singapore laws.
