any users of a trading platform ?

Post by luxiana » Wed, 30 Apr 2008 5:29 am

hello,

has anyone tried saxo trader?
I have downloaded the software. you get access to pretty much all the interesting markets:

commodities futures:
-soft commodities,
- base/precious metal,
- energy

Stocks: pretty much everything you need except Hong Kong (?!)

CFDs
Forex

I didnt find any option allowing me to export historical prices to Excel
I didnt find any tool allowing me to setup a trading strategy
there is no backtesting module.

My understanding is that Saxo Trader is a direct access to the market with very basic analysis capabilities (charting).

If anyone else here uses he platform I would be interested in a more educated opinion of this platform. Any other platform of interest??

Thanks!

hi there,
you cant pm me because you have to post a min of 5 messages on the forum I think.

as for the difference: one is paper trading, the other one is real life trading...
I believe the prices are updated in real time (or almost) on the real thing.

I've been told that when there are major news their servers have problems holding the load...

i did not sign up for saxo because the deposit is a turn off. but i see the platform is quite sophisticated though. anyway for a long term investor, you just need a decent trading platform like poems and dbs vickers. that is sufficient

you seem keen, there are large risks involved and it is also illegal, without licence.
Although many chinese people do it often, they have normally known, their colleagues since school days...trust is a major issue, although i have to admit, it maybe possible for POEMS to setup and investment account, with different names on it, the problem then would be internal, between the syndicate on the actual dealing...if one can come to anagreement, it would be okay, and i think not illegal, providing all names are submitted.

However I do not know, the legalities, but the idea with a licence holder, maybe possible.

anyone can give me some advice?

I signed up for DBSVickers with a view to trading stocks on US & Canadian markets. However DBS informed me that I am restricted from trading on North American markets due to the fact that I have a Canadian citizenship (I am a Singapore PR for 10 years though).

Can anyone advise how I can trade on the Canadian market while still living in Singapore. Currently I don't even have a bank account with a Canadian bank.....

Thanks

eddie, Singapore PR is only recognizable in Singapore. No where else in the world. Once outside of Singapore either by electronic means or physically, your PR means absolutely nothing.
