Chauffeured car services for their kids to school?

Post by invigorated » Fri, 25 Apr 2008 10:43 am

I work mostly in the afternoon and have free time in the morning. I'm considering chauffeuring children to their schools. I am a safe driver and the car I'm driving scores a 5 star Japan NCAP score, and thus I can assure that kids will be pretty well covered.

Will parents consider this, taking into account more comfort for their children? Or are school buses already doing a good job and there's no demand on this? Anyone here has tried a similar service before? Hoping to get some views and inputs here. Thanks.

:)

Two things.

ONe, please advertise services in the Classified section of this site.

and Two, have you the proper permits and chauffeurs license to transport people for hire? Do you have the correct insurance coverage as well? I'm afraid that this island doesn't cotton to freelance taxi's very much. They were outlawed some 30 years ago.

Hi,

One, I'm sorry if you feel that this thread was posted wrongly. Pls shift it to another folder or remove it if you find that it's meant for advertising.

Two, my intention was to gather feedback as there are parents using this thread. Will eventually have to come up with some proper advertising if the idea's viable. Your comments on the insurance part is valid and I'll check up on that. Thanks.

It's not just the insurance part. You will probably also need a Taxi Driver's vocational license as well but I'm not too sure as I couldn't find anything specific on it on the LTA site nor the Traffic Police site. I think you will have to check with the traffic police or LTA directly.

The first part of my message was just a gentle reminder. Had I deemed it advertising it would have already been deleted.

Move to Brunei, drivers are a dime a dozen. No license required, at least the regular drivers don't seem to be licensed they way they drive! We laugh, they've just come out of the jungle and got their license out of a cereal box! Dreadful...

I would imagine that in Singapore, you would need to go through the same sort of requirements as a taxi driver. You are going to be paid for your service of driving, you're not doing this as a friend. Is it really going to be worth it?
