well, if you like Malay songs, you'll probably have heard of Siti Nurhaliza who is fantastic singer. You can search for her on Youtube

Hi,
I'm Sri lankan Australian and loves dangdut music. It is a Indonesia-Malay brand of dance music very popular in Indonesia. They used to have a dangdut dance club in Paya Lebar. Not sure if that is still there. I have been there a few times ... some 3 years ago.
Unfortunately most urban Indonesians and Malaysians don't want to say they like dangdut and look down on it saying its "kampong music" (lower class music). Its a shame that they don't appreciate their own music which I think has the potential to become the salsa / lambada of the East.
Siti Nurhalisa's music is also great to listen to and sometimes to dance as well ... when she mix it with the joget beat.
Well I have just completed a Phd on Indonesian / Malaysian pop music. Thats how i came to know about this music... and had the opportunity to interview many of the stars.
I'm planning to organise a dangdut / bhangra (Indian dance music) dance night in July or August. Hope you will be able to join in and bring some friends along as well.
