What I'm I doing wrong?

Post by laksh » Wed, 23 Apr 2008 11:19 pm

Hi,

I'm new to the country and have been searching for a job since the last two months -but with no luck!! :(

I'm a banker with about 7 years of banking exp in India with an MNC bank.Is it because I'm not a PR and on a DP?

What are my chances of landing a part time job at -least?

Would any one out there be able to help?

thanks

laksh

Maybe you have to much experience and are scaring the hiring managers ? Ive found a lot of locals are in senior positions when in the States or the UK they would only be in junior roles given their lack of experience and knowledge . Whats your background ?

Hi,

I've graduated in Economics and have a post grad in management.I don't think it is my experience but the lack of it for the last 2 years ...as I had to take a break, while my husband relocated to KL.

Would there be any freelance/consulting offers available?

You might try the job board at the American Association of Singapore. It is oriented towards expats.

Hi,

Thanks for the info on the AAS.I was just looking at the available jobs and they seem very interesting, off- beat stuff!

But, how do you apply?Do you need to be a paid member as there are no direct contact e-mail id available for any of the positions?

Thanks

Warm Regards

I worked in the investment banking side with mainly derivatives. Ive been told by my reruitment agency not to appear as knowledgeable as the hiring managers feel threatened.

Hi,

Oh....that's tough...i always thought this was "the" place to get all the right jobs...

So, are you looking at alternative options?

I think I will take the AAS membership, after all.

Warm Regards

Laksh
