moving to singapour

Postby tina66 » Sun, 20 Apr 2008 10:20 am

My husband is being offered a job in Singpore, S$20,000 p/month. We have two children aged 6 and 8. The salary includes healthcare for the family but no housing or education. We currently live in Hong Kong and I work too.

My questions are the following:
- should the children attend an int'l or local school. I've heard education here is excellent.
- how much should we set aside for housing? I'm looking for a 3-4 bedroom flat. As I'm not familiar with Singapore, I don't know which area, I would presume not too far from schools.
- the plan is to eventually settle down, buy a home and so on. Is the cost of living high there (food, utilities, etc)?
- would I be able to work in Singapore as well? I'm an English Language Instructor teaching in a secondary school and for university evening courses.

Any advice, especially on kids' education will be most welcome.

I'm sure that many enquiries like mine have been posted

They certainly have, which is why you should use the search function and find them.

Hi, I believe cost of living in Singapore should generally be lower than in Hong Kong.

But the actual amount will vary widely depending on your lifestyle, of course.

Maybe try a search for "cost of living singapore" on Google and check out the results?
