Does anyone know of a good online site for buying shares that trade on the London Stock Exchange?
I have a friend that uses Hargreaves Lansdown and he is fairly happy but I just wanted to know what else was out there before I throw my money away!

if you are a big time investor, you can consider putting such big amount. but if you are just a small time investor, the big deposit is definitely a put off. i rather go for local brokerages

Dredging this one up as I cannot find the more recent posting about online stockbrokers.
A question about POEMS vs. igmarkets.com.sg :
Both don't really say if they offer volume (i.e. in the queue) details nor if they are STP.
Also, will they interface their data to MetaStock in real-time?
Mike, any suggestions?
Thanks, in advance, Mr. P

im not sure about igmarkets. AFAIK they offer CFD products only?
for poems you can buy the real shares or CFD. poems have their live price update. as for market depth, you need to pay for subscription per month
upon signing up with poems, you can make use of 1 month free trial to their poems protrader account. protrader has market depth

Thanks Mike - good work as usual!
Just following up on my final questiopn - does the POEMS price feed interface to a charting package such as MetaStock? I'm using MDSNews for charting, but have 10 minute delayed pricing.
Many thanks, Mr. P

poems charting connects to metastock online. you can see up to 250 days of data
are you asking about live daily chart? this one im note sure. i will try to check when market open. didnt really do intra or interdays trading so did not notice about the live chart

Mike - thanks. I assume you use a charting package to interface with POEMS ? If so, is there a better choice than MetaStock? Mr. P
