Looking for an IT Opportunity

Post by theemptyone » Thu, 17 Apr 2008 6:10 am

Hey!

I'm very interested in finding an opportunity to work and move to Singapore as an Expatriot. I currently work in the IT field, and would obviously like to continue on that route there.

Currently I work at Verisign, as a Security Analyst supporting a good number of firewall and ids platforms I have been working in device and connectivity management for going on 4 years now and have an Associates Degree in Computer Networking, as well as a CCNA and am currently working on my CCSP.

It's pretty important to me for personal reasons to find an avenue for relocation there from the US, and would greatly appreciate any help anyone could give me. If anyone has any advice regarding resources, or directions I can look at, or any advice at all it would be a big help.

if you are looking for an expat package, then you need to look for a job in the US that is willing to send you to work in singapore. or you can look for a job in singapore. it will be a local hire, no expat package.

No, unfortunately Verisign doesn't have an office there. A few of our customers do, and the temptation is growing to look into that. I need to talk to a few managers before I do that though.

In regards to expat package. While it would be nice, its not really necessary. If I can get a decent paying job, and the required visa and what not, I think I would be fine relocating on my own. Mostly it will come down to how much I'll actually be able to take home from the job.

Something else that would be interesting to learn though, is what I would need to gain in order for the likelihood of an expat package becoming available to go up. I'm hoping that the CCSP that I'm working on will help that.
