Has anyone been to Papua New Guinea?

My husband and I have talked about a trip to Papua New Guinea for quite a few years. From what we've read, instead "tour you own", we need the travel agent in Papua New Guinea to set up the trip for us. We finally decided we gonna do it this year and sent out a request to a local agent a week ago, and have not received respond from them yet.

We'd like to learn more information from you guys who have been to there to make our trip possible. Any recommendation or information would be highly appreciated.
