Seek suggestions on place to live

Post by sin2008 » Sat, 12 Apr 2008 11:44 am

My family is considering to move to SIN. We have a 7-yr old kid who will go to an International School (less likely, a local school). We will be working in NUS/NUH. We hope to find a place close to where we work, and where the kid's school is. Although we have not determined which school yet (your suggestion is also welcome)

Obviously the area should be nice, etc.

I am hoping to find an apartment (or house) at least 1500 sqf (ideally 2000-2500 sqf), I know the rent has been skyrocketing . I wonder if someone can provide potential places and an approximate price range.

Thanks

you could check the property listings on this website. the NUS/NUH is in district 5, nearest areas are the west coast, pasir panjang, dover, clementi, buona vista, holland village area...

Holland area is more expats-friendly in the west.
With your budget, you can consider newly launched condos suitable for family such as Viz @ Holland.

I don't see where the OP gave a budget.

Sorry, I did not give a budget since I am sure how much housing subsidy i will get. I will possibly spend around 5000-8000 and indeed I am afraid that won't be enough.

with a budget of S$5000 to S$8000 for a property, the world is your oyster! and you still think that is not enough? i guessed one man's hut is another man's mansion. :P

With a budget of what you have, you should be able to get a decent sized 2 bedroom with no problem in most of the areas here. To give you a indication, I live in a 2 bedroom farily new condo out in the east and I pay $2800 for that, and I took this place around 8 months ago when the market was at its peak, the market seems to be coming down gradually now, so you wouldnt need to worry too much with your budget here now. Good luck...
