Where to buy 'Travel Systems' (Prams)

Post by Gilly » Tue, 08 Apr 2008 1:53 am

Hi there,

We've been trying in vain to find somewhere in Singapore to buy a pram. Can anyone helps us?
We are specifically looking for a My3 3-Wheeler travel system. We made the choice by looking on Mothercare online (UK) because there isn't a good selection in Bangkok, which is where we're currently living, or on Mothercare.com.sg.
Any help in suggesting where we can buy in Singapore would be much appreciated.

First Few Years in Paragon and Mothers Work in Great World City (also in Tanglin Mall) have large selection of prams. Both have websites you can google.

Goldhill Plaza - adjacent to United Square in Newton is kid-city - lots of prams, clothes, additional learning workshop places etc. Might be worth popping over and seeing if something there fits the bill

we just been through a stroller search as well. here are more shops you might also want to check out:

baby-avenue.com
babytown.com.sg
aprisin.com.sg
kiddybee.com
baby-meadows.com

or you may want to pay a visit to the baby hyperstore and baby kingdom in kaki bukit avenue. these are warehouses, and if they carry the brand you want, they might be able to order it for you if they don't have it.

Thanks Viajera,

Something like a baby hyperstore that has the biggest range is just what we need. We keep changing our minds on what we want, partially because we can't find what we want anywhere, and the more we look into it, the more expensive it becomes (for a pram for our requirements) :?

Out of curiosity, what did you buy?

we finally went for a compact and lightweight valco navigator (available at first few years). it's not a travel system (it doesn't even have a separate bassinet), but we don't have a car, and we wanted something that's feasible to bring using public transport (which isn't exactly baby-friendly here in singapore). it was a toss between this and the tfk buggster (available from aprisin), which had a bassinet that could also be "reclined" to be used as a carseat. unlike the quinny, the tfk had a reclining seat. overall, a really neat piece of equipment. but we found it too heavy and impractical to use in tight spaces. also, this is most likely going to be our last pregnancy, so we didn't want to shell out a fortune. i'm pretty sure once the kid is about 1.5-2 yo, we'll shift to an even more compact umbrella-type stroller anyway.

goodluck in your search! it took us ages to reach a final choice, and even then, it was a compromise, so i know it's not an easy task! :)

Hi Gilly
I'm not sure if you have found something but perhaps you might want to list down what is your main need.

I drive so I need an infant car seat. At the same time I didn't want to buy too many separate 'system' and so I bought this infant car seat which can be use when I drive and at the same time, I can remove it from my car and attach to the stroller. So it's a 2 in 1 thing. And this comes with another seat which I can switch when my child is older (toddler).

I skipped getting a pram. Usually baby will only use for a while and then you will need to get something else... Might as well invest in something that can 'grow' with your baby...

if you are looking for a baby car seat combo, then this IMHO is the best combo...

get a quinny zapp and a maxi cosi cabrio baby car seat. you can undo the "seat" on the zapp and click the maxi cosi into it.

I'm looking a pram too. I know that Mothercare does deliveires from UK, and they can do a special order for you (you have to pay a bit more).

And, quinny zapp, had it, hated it, you can't fold/unfold it with one hand only. Otherwise great.

note also that the using the carseat for longer than a couple of hours is not recommended for newborns, hence the importance of having one that can fully recline to an almost flat position.
