Mums Group

Post by rodandhelen » Sun, 06 Apr 2008 7:29 am

Hi All,

I have been reading posts from mums who want to get out and meet other mums, so I thought id arrange a mums group at my place on Friday 11th for all those mummy's who need a bit of adult company for a few hours, im happy to put the kettle on and put on sancks for kids and mums. If all goes well maybe we can start a regular mums group.

Im living on the East Coast near Parkway Parade.

Let me know who is intrested and ill email you the details.

Hi Helen
Long time no speak. pm ed you a while back but if you are like me, you may not notice the message for weeks .
Hope you are all doing well.
Definately interested in the idea of a regular playgroup, friday the 11th not working out though as boys have started in new school and I have to attend the 1st first pta meeting friday morning. Afternoon will be all about getting organised for J's birthday party the next day, was making a sonic pinata this week-end and still having to organise treasure hunt , sonic birthday cake etc ... Birthdays are easier and more relaxed when they are little !
Any other week should be fine. really looking forward to catching up, I know it has been a really long time...
take good care and a tickle to D and E .

Best times for me are between 12.30 - 2.30 as that is when my oldest is at preschool. Of course other times are fine too, i'll just have both boys with me. I'm away thurs and fri next week but apart from that am free.

PLaygroup/ workshop

Post by Deusa » Fri, 25 Apr 2008 8:05 am

Hi There,

I'm moving in july to Singapore with my family (husband, 5 y.old son, 3 y.old twin gorgeous girls) and almost verything is arranged.
Our new home is close to Tanglin Mall, our kids are going to german School, and I would love to see if I could find some new friends and join a playgroup for my kids after school. At least once a week.
In jakarta, were we are located for 6 years now, our kids have a lot of friends and play dates.
Singapore is close to Indonesia, but very differente in every aspect, and could be very overwelming for the kids this change now.
A new play group would be just the right thing to help us to adjust asap in our new country.

I'm very happy to move to Singapore (it's about time) and hope that we will find wonderull friends in Singapore just as we found in Jakarta.

Btw, I also paint a lot in Jakarta and did some exhibitions too.
I hope to continue my work/hobby in Singapore and would love to find workshops and artclasses in the morning, with certificate, even better. I have found something in Internett at laSalle and Nanyang school of Arts, but I think they only have at night. Not so interesting when you have 3 small children. Right?

Anyway, If you are in the similar conditions, and have some tips for me, I would love to hear from you. :)

If you prefer, please contact me at my e.mail address:[email protected]

See ya,

Deusa- we were in jakarta for 2.5 years and moved to singapore about a year 1/2 ago - i think the social aspect is a bit different than jakarta - when we initially arrived in indonesia i met some great girls right away and we are the closest of friends. i found it a bit more difficult here right from the start - but once you have the kids in activities and school - you'll meet so many people (too many! :) ) you'll be very close to the botanical gardens and there are tons of children of all ages all the time. plus if you are moving into a condo there are also lots of young children around. a lot of children in the 3-6 range have classes in the afternoons (soccer, ballet, gym, tai-kwan-do, swimming lessons...etc). one of the best things to do is get ahold of a Finder magazine (or they do a special Kids Finder edition) and that will give you a bit of a head start. also, at the german school they'll be meeting lots of expats and invited to lots of playdates after school.
good luck with the move! the lack of pollution and traffic will take you awhile to get used to

:D

Hi there,

Thank you so much for your reply.
It's nice to have an opinion from someone who lived in Jakarta before.
Thank you for the infos.

Take care,
