Local school admission tests

I read that MOE is going to be doing centralised testing for admission of Intl students from this year. Does anyone have experience of the current testing regime for entry for kids 6 to 8yrs old.

Apparently you need to pass the tests to gain entry to a school - what happens if they don't 'pass' - they can't then go to a local school at all??

Isn't it just for grade placement?

yup tats right. when i came to singapore i had to answer many tests to enter a school here. well, if the student does not pass the test, they dont get an admission.

My daughter did not have to take an exam to enter Primary One in January 2008. This is the first I've heard of this. Can you post the link to the MOE website for further info?

The exam is only for kiddos who are entering the school system midway. Hence, it's not required for primary one entrance.
