Breast Surgery

Post by movagn » Wed, 26 Mar 2008 10:09 am

Hello everybody,
Has anyone done a breast lift with Harry Fok or Martin HUang or any doctor at all? I would appreciate any info on good doctors for breast job. I plan to reduce 1 or 2 cup size and have them lifted. Thank you!

I wanted to do breast reduction too but heard that you won't be able to breast feed in the future.

I've just had breast reduction 6 weeks ago with Dr. Andrew Khoo in Mt. Elizabeth. The surgery was to reduce 4 cup sizes from F/G to C/D . At the moment the breast are at cup small D but might still reduce when all swelling is gone.

I thought about having the surgery in Thailand simply because it was cheaper. But then I decided against it and went to have it in Singapore. You never know what possible complications you might develop.

One of the prime reason I selected Dr. Khoo was because he specialised in breast reconstruction after surviving breast cancer surgery. I thought if anyone can construct breast from little or no breast tissue must be pretty good. Surgery took just over 7 hours (we took this as a sign that Dr. Khoo really took his time to complete the surgery) and I stayed 3 nights in the hospital. So far everything is healing well (touch wood), My husband and I are pleased with the result.

wow, he REALLY took his time! That's almost twice the sort of time a breast reduction usually takes. A mastectomy and immediate breast reconstruction takes about 8 hours yes but a breast reduction? Maybe it was more complicated than usual...but long anaesthetic time like that increases the risks of complications...unless it's a life saving op like for breast cancer, that's pretty risky...especially if it's pure for cosmesis.

bergy76,

I find your comments are somewhat alarmist at best. I am sure that if there had been complications or difficulties with the procedure, the doctor would have consulted with the husband and/or at the least informed both during the post-operative phase had there been a reason to do so.

BTW did you have any obvious scars after the reduction as I understand will have a line underpart of the scar if I am not wrong. I have same breasts almost none ...boooo  . BTW Andrew Khoo is a good PS for breast. May contemplate breast enhancement with him. Happy recovery!!!

I don't know about anyone else but I do not see breast reduction as cosmetic surgery. I had 4 cup sizes reduced (just over 3 lbs of breast tissue removed). It took me years (over 10 years) to consider getting this procedure done as it is not a simple procedure. And during these thinking period I have had suffered severe back pain (I spend thousands of euro getting treatments for it), shoulder ache and psychological torment where people make fun of my breast in my teens and/or literary stare at my breast.
And since we have been relocated here, some people even gave me the look of disgust because of my breast as if I committed a crime or sin. I never asked for large breast but was given at birth and I really hated my breast, nothing really good has came out of it (my husband is not even a "boob man").

The procedure left me with large permanent and visible scar in the shape of an anchor on each breast. From a beauty perspective, the scar left by this procedure definitely will not classify it as plastic surgery or as bergy76 might called it "cosmesis". My health insurance considered this procedure as medical need and covered 90% of the cost.

And as for your comment about the doctor taking his time; are you a surgeon? If so, do you have a speed record in performing surgery?
I personally prefer doctor that takes his time to do things properly and safely. I would not want my surgeon to see me as an object to reach his/her speed record. Surgery is not a race.

And as I said before, everything is healing nicely so far(touch wood as it still takes more time for it to completely heals), my husband and I are very please with the result. I no longer have back and shoulder ache. And I am thankful that I have almost no loss of sensations on both nipples.

I am posting about my breast reduction surgery to encourage anyone with similar issues/problems who considered doing this procedure. Find yourself a good reliable surgeon you are comfortable with, then go ahead and do it. It's really worth doing.

funshiting,

Thank you for your support :)

And yes, I do have scars but Dr. Khoo did a very good job with it. He made the incisions in such was that only the vertical line down the nipple and some horizontal line on bottom side that's really visible (unless you really try to look closely below the breasts.
In 2 weeks time I will be commencing the scar management, so hopefully the scar visibility might even reduce more.

My husband and I are very pleased with the result so far. And we both agree that Dr. Khoo is definitely a good surgeon for the job and I am very glad I had mine done by him.

Good luck with your consideration and I would definitely recommend Dr. Khoo for any breast augmentations.

I was merely stating the fact that the surgery had taken longer than it normally does, not that I was suggesting there was something wrong or that the surgeon was no good. Maybe there was more work than usual like lots of breast tissue to remove or maybe the surgeon was just extra careful. In anycase, Borneng seems to be happy with the outcome and she did not suffer any ill-effects from the long anaesthetic, so I guess it doesn't matter :)
About docs informing patients, from experience, while you'd like to believe all do, but this is not necessarily the case.

Borneng,

I am aware there are several other indications for breast reduction apart from just wanting smaller breasts like back problems and unwanted attention as you rightly say. As I explained before, I was just merely stating that your surgery took longer than usual, that's all :) I'm glad you're happy with your op and hope it gives you the better quality of life that you hoped :)

Breast Reduction

Post by Ancely » Tue, 18 Nov 2008 5:55 pm

Hi Borneng,

I also thinking of doing breast reduction, i'm quite small size but with huge breast (E cup). Also seeking for the information about it. Glad to hear that you did it. May I know how much is the total cost? Which insurance do you claim from? I intend to consult with GP first.
