i lived with a girl in university who was a recovering anorexic and they put her on a load of high calorie protein shakes (similar to ensure). also i would think things that are high in fat/protein (nuts, cheeses, avocados...etc) might have a similar effect.

You can purchase the body building foods, from GNC ask tell them about your problem, and ask for the weightgain powder, there will be different flavours. but take it easy, you don't wish to put on too much fat, so i would advise you to do more exercise on the weights, so the protien can build you some nice little muscles......Your lucky you have a good metabolism.....I know a guy body builder who had the same problem, some people are just not meant to be fat....but this guy has some mean looking muscles, that wins competitions, even though he is underweight for his size of 5ft 10 inch and only 65kg..

I have heavy muscle at 5ft 8 inch and weigh 85kg so you can imagine the difference. A little exercise will give you lots of benefits, even just walking will build muscles too.

There is nothing wrong with you, and 45kg is light considering you are 1.59 so you could dowith another 8 kg, but you shouldn't worry, many people would love to be in your shoes....try having a chat with the doctor, so if he can suggest and program for you,,,,you should be pretty good at running at that weight..., if you really want to put weight on, you need to start lifting more heavy weights, try 5 kg, with an heavy weight, your muscle will have to build muscle, so keep eating the protien and carbs, and increase the weight to 5kg. There are plenty of womens programms on the internet. I'll see if i can find one for you.

^ Maybe not.

First, do see a doctor.
He can check to make sure there is no systemic problem (e.g. tapeworms, etc.).
He may also suggest a more reasonable diet (including appropriate supplements).

Do exercise with heavier weights as suggested.
ksl wrote:. . . do more exercise on the weights, so the protien can build you some nice little muscles.
You don't need to do a body builder's regimen (which would be ~30 hours a week with very heavy weights).
Just a couple hours 2-3 times a week will keep you fit and toned without too much bulk.
Continue with your walking and running.
Carrying heavier weights while walking ("Power walking"- 2 to 5 kg per limb) may also be a good way to exercise.

Overall this will help increase your appetite to help add some muscle weight.

Should be additional supplement after your meal since you want to gain weight. Powder and maybe capsule.

Being a girl or being almost 21 are not good reasons for not trying to make yourself look better.
Besides, there's no need to worry.
You will not end up looking like a man (it's a myth).

Sculpted bulges take way more work than a few walks with weights in the evening or going to the gym a mere 2-3 times a week.
It takes many, many hours in the gym with very heavy weights and with someone (a workout buddy or coach) pushing you.

As for the veins, they only pop when you are actually lifting.
This is where the term "pumping iron" came from.
To get the right look in bodybuilding competitions, body builders have to lift weights just before going on stage.
Rest too long and it all goes away.

Weightlifting could be good for muscle tone and confidence.
In fact, you might even be able to add curves, which would be more feminine.

However, as with any exercise regimen, it might be best to check with your doctor first (have you done this yet?).
