Moving from US - Condo & Pre-School Selection

Post by cool-b66 » Mon, 24 Mar 2008 5:25 pm

I am moving with my family (wife and 26 months old boy) to Singapore in April 2008. Rightnow I am on the business trip (2 weeks) to pick the condo and school for my son. I do have an agent assigned to me by company, but I do like get your input from US/UK resident point of view.

Can you please suggest a good condo (not too old) for S$4.5K budget near any good Primary or Kindergerten schools. We are NOT looking to live closer to business district (like district 09/10/01/02) as the rates are too expensive (even to NY standards). I am ok to take 20-45 mins train ride to Tanjong Pagar everyday for work. Any west cost place closer to MRT would be ideal. Thank you.

Also any input on the Primary school cost and other inputs would be helpful. Thank you.

I am very close finalizing the following condo....any experience with this place ?

Condo: Parc Oasis
MRT: Chinese Garden (0.2 Km)
Ride to Tanjang Bagar (30-35 mins.. I hope)
Pre-School: MMI - Jurong Branch

Parc Oasis is a good choice. You may also look at Westmere. I understand Parc Oasis is a large development with close to 900 units and it may be a little congested in use of the facilities while Westmere have about 300 units. Beside next to a primary school, nearby there is also a good kindergerten run by the Seventh Days Adventis church.
Do take a look at this 2 condos. Best of luck.
