Good question.. have been offered position in my current Bank out in SG but have doubts about housing due to the massive costs out there (and I thought the UK was expensive!!).
This may be a stupid question butwhen looking through the property section on this site - say at Cluster Houses - are the prices - c. 7000 S$ - per month or per week???? Obviously this would make a huge difference to what I could afford.
I'm out in SG in the first week of Arpil on business and want to view some places at difference price bands to see what I can get. Also no real idea where to look as have only been to SG for 3 days in my life..
Any ideas/suggestions/comments/insults welcome!!
Thanks

S$7000 will be per month. that would consider to be very high end(ish). lower end will be from S$2500 onwards.
just look up the MRT map and see how close you want to live to your work of place. there's no such thing as "where to stay" as everywhere in singapore there's a place to stay, somewhere.
viewing is a good start to get a feel of what you are getting and the location. one man's mansion is another man's hut!

Well there are also specific areas for Brits, like Holland Village, the Embassy is close by too, and probably other facilities..not far from Orchard, but depends what you want.London1971 wrote:Thanks - that is really useful. I'll keep you updated on my reconnaissance.
Cheers
Rental and who needs those tiny condo's, it's like moving to the UK, mind you rentals are dropping a little too, but watch out for the contracts and diplomatic closes, it can be a nighmare if you get stuck in the first year, before the price rallies, and you cannot afford to renew the contract.
I'm on th east side, which is fine but 25 minutes from the City, you can also rent private landed houses too, with sports facilities close by. I've been to some of the condo's and i didn't like them at all, but for expats it's okay, plenty of partying i should imagine.
