Affordable rugs other than Ikea

Post by bwc » Mon, 17 Mar 2008 9:53 pm

I am looking for a large rug for our living room. I dont want to spend thousands on an oriental rug, but I want something better than Ikea. Cant seem to find anything in between. (like Pottery Barn if any of you are from US or know it) Any suggestions?? Thx

Don't know how big their selection is though.

but I want something better than Ikea.
You want something better than Ikea, and for less money. The last carpet I looked at in Ikea was a very well hand made rug at around 1,000$, which would cost you alot more down Arab St for that kind of quality,
or is it, you just want something different than ikea.

Arab St have what you want, you just have to tell them your budget! Remembering you don't always get what you pay for, even though it may look nice.

My main rant is that some people know the worth of a carpet and some don't, like the 120 year old Kazak, with vegetable dye, valued at 8k US$ means very little to joe bloggs..but to a collector, he will put more value on it, but it's rare to find good quality, and a cheap price, although the run of the mill machine made synthetic fibre ones...well those are dirt cheap :P but hardly classed has carpets.

The one i looked at in Ikea is hand knotted, although those patterns are mass produced, specially for commercial sales, but good quality without a doubt, and not at all expensive for a hand made rug.

Although Arab St, where every carpet is the only one, may be to your liking  Take that with a pinch of salt.

Not like pottery barn, but still, some nice selections (and some cr*p too). They can bind the edges and make an area carpet for you, and they are nice to deal with.
