Getting an EP when PR has been renounced

Post by fallingfirst » Thu, 13 Mar 2008 9:28 pm

I renounced PR status 4 years back in order to complete my degree at melbourne university. Because of this, i didnt have to do NS. What are my chances of being granted an EP to work in Singapore if i have secured a job there? From what i've read, its a case by case basis. If anyone has experienced, or know of someone who has experienced a senario like mine, pls share. Thanks

Just try and see... And you might be lucky... Like me, I was a former Singaporean, (immigrated to another country when I was 4)... Of course then, do not have to serve NS.. I applied for EPEC and they approved... So maybe the government has a different outlook from before.. I know before, the government was very "xiao chi" ..

Generally, if you followed proper protocols when renouncing and the Government accepted your renunciation then you won't have any problem. However if the renunciation wasn't accepted by the Singapore Gov't then it could be a problem. If protocols are followed the government doesn't hold "grudges" as it were. You would be given work visas like anybody else, based on your qualifications, experience and salary offered by the potential employer.
